“If you're so French, why no bidet?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

The property is excellent -- well maintained, nice big rooms, very comfortable bed and very high quality bedding, tasteful accents -- like wood closets, nice art, BOSE stereo system / alarm clock. (No dresser though which means I was living out of the suitcase for four days.) Bathroom has both big tub and separate shower. The restaurant serves good food -- including a fancy spa-designed healthy choices menus. (I especially liked breakfast -- egg white omelet, turkey bacon, multi-grain toast -- coffee and juice (and a complimentary mini-smoothie and croissant) come with a meal which makes a lot of sense -- and almost worth the $25 price tag. Sounds excellent, right? The fitness center -- aptly called SoFit -- is also good -- Lifefitnes equipment with TVs on every cardio machine and earphones to use. So, why did I say only Very Good? Because it's expensive, self-conscious, and extremely pretentious -- affected french accents and francofied name tags (e.g., Christoph ... from Roxboro?) and greetings (Bonjour, Bonsoir, Bon Appetit), a lounge bar that calls itself chic, a romance concierge. All this effort to appear French and yet no bidet in the bathroom?

I stay here regularly for business and pleasure. I like its downtown location. The rooms are large and well equipped.

What makes the Sofitel stand out is the staff. They are always helpful, professional and willing to help in any way. Good hotels always have good staff, but the Sofitel staff really stands above the rest.

Stayed here for a week while working in Philly; bed was just amazingly comfortable but could do with providing a sheet (in addition to the huge fluffy duvet) for those people who get hot during the night. Room was great with a lovely bathroom & shower. Service in all areas was good and I will certainly stay here again for my next trip.

This hotel was top-notch all the way. Friendly staff, beautiful quiet room, fast and accommodating room service. Great location downtown. Fluffy and wonderful bed. Nice bathroom amenities. Great value for the price of the room. What more can I say, it just doesn't get much better!

I have had the pleasure of staying at this property on multiple occasions, each time being as wonderful as the last. The staff, location, rooms, dining and service are all exceptional. I truly enjoy staying here and would absolutely recommend it to anyone thinking of visiting the area or just looking for a place to spend a night. It is one of my favorite properties to stay at.

Beautiful hotel and rooms near Rittenhouse Square. Focus on guest happiness probably 10 out of 10 stars. Bedding, pillows and comforters allow you to sink into blissful sleep. Concierge went out of his way to book a place at the Barnes Museum at the last minute and provided ideas for antique shopping. Best of all, this French hotel encourages you to bring your dog (s) and even has a room service menu (steak, chicken, fish) for dogs plus water bowls. Incroyable!

Came here w/a last minute booking in March and needed to bring my puppy and stay downtown. This was a great location. A very well maintained hotel and friendly staff. The rooms were very nice as well. Walking distance to Rittenhouse Square park and walking distance to shopping on Walnut Street. Near lively night life as well. All in a safe environment. Dogs can stay for free, but they will charge you if your dog damages anything. My dogs housebroken and I brought a travel crate for when we left room. But I did walk by a room were a dog had done some damage, that room definitely got the max $300 bill.
