“Great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

The Windsor Suites met our needs for our two night stay. Our room was clean and well equipped. The kitchen was well stocked for anyone that might actually need it. We just used the coffee maker & fridge. Our room had a huge walk-in closet. A person could actually sleep in there. Plus there was also a large coat closet by the front door. Storage was definitely not a problem!

The bed and pillows were comfortable. The room was on the warm side. Although it was cold outside, the room never got cool enough at night to sleep comfortably. The windows do open, but that was not an option at night. Now, the walls are pretty thin. So quiet is very dependent on your neighbors. We lucked out for the most part. But our neighbor was definitely an early riser and had lengthy early morning conversations.

The staff at the Windsor Suites was friendly & helpful. There is a restaurant on property but we did not get a chance to try it. The elevators are tiny and tend to be a bit slow. Not a big deal for us, but it was a challenge to take a fully loaded luggage cart to our room. WiFi worked fine during our stay.

The location is great. You are within walking distance the Reading Market and the Independence Hall area attractions. You are also a block away from the Four Seasons. This is worth mentioning because Big Bus Tours has a stop there. So if you are using the Big Bus you have a very close stop.

You do not need a car. Period. Unfortunately, we did have a car. Which brings me to my one major gripe. Parking & Fees. The hotel charges $33 which is bad enough. But then they add tax. So parking for 2 days (actually 1 1/2 days) ended up costing us just shy of $80. We arrived close to midnight the 1st night and you have to be out by 6PM on your check-out day. So not really 24 hour days. Plus, it's not self parking. So if you need anything from your car, they need to bring the car out to you. And of course, a tip is expected.

All in all, we had a nice stay and would consider staying here again in the future. Without a car.

We were in Philly for a mid-week event that we didn't feel like driving home from, so we reserved a room here. Upon our arrival there were some minor issues. It took forever for the valet to get our car, check-in was very noisy due to the renovations (room was quiet though), and the wifi was down. They upgraded us to a suite for the inconvenience, which was way more space than we needed but fine by me. The room was clean and quiet, and comfortable.

Upon checkout I was disappointed to find out that parking was not $33, but $40 with taxes and fees I wasn't aware of. I had already thought $33 was a bit steep for one night or parking.

I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again, but I'd certainly find another place to park. The area is very walkable.

Two year anniversary ruined thanks to our error in judgment when choosing where to stay in Philly. If you appreciate being lied to by hotel staff well this is the place. Upon check in the wifi was down. We were told it would be up and running in one hour tops. Well the wifi remained down our entire stay. EVEN BETTER...it was 80 degrees in our room. The AC did not work. The front office staff's solution..OPEN THE WINDOWS. REALLY?! So without wifi my business transactions could not be completed. And with the windows open in the middle of Philadelphia...well...enough said. The overnight front desk woman acted as if we owed her something..i guess she expects to get paid for having a ghetto attitude and sitting on her rear end all night. ZERO CONCERN for my wife and i. I would rather sleep under the ben franklin bridge than return here.. STAY AWAY!!!

Dear ING1315,

Thank you for choosing The Windsor Suites to celebrate your 2nd wedding anniversary and another Congratulations from our entire team. It is clear we failed to deliver the overall level of service and accommodations you deserve. Our wireless internet was in fact down due to a nationwide compromise of our wireless network provider's system, causing an outage to over 600 properties throughout the United States. Although we tried our best to minimize the impact for each of our guests with multiple hospitality internet lounges setup throughout the building, its clear that in this digital age any disruption in internet service is a significant inconvenience. I am happy to report we have since had our service restored through an alternate provider, to ensure uninterrupted wireless internet access for each of our valued guests, moving forward.

Please also allow me to apologize for any inconvenience as a result of the temperature issues you encountered. Our building operates on a two pipe system, which allow for either heating or cooling to be activated at any one particular time. Our engineering team closely monitors changing weather conditions to ensure we are providing the most appropriate heating/cooling service for each day. Though moving forward, we will work hard to ensure the most comfortable conditions for each of our valued guests.

Should you be willing to discuss this matter further, it would be my pleasure to ensure we do our best to make the situation right. At a time that is convenient for you, please contact me directly at mroberts@thewindsorsuites.com or via my direct line at 215-981-5664.

Sincerely,

Mike Roberts

Very impressed with this hotel, I really want expecting it to be as good. It was through a refurbishment six months ago and now looks great. The bedrooms were well appointed with all you would expect, small kitchen had everything that you need to make all of your own food. Bed was simply enormous and very comfy. Will definitely be back.

I stayed at the Windsor Suites for two nights in August 2014, with Philadelphia being the first stop on a six week trip across the States. I chose here based on the positive reviews, its location and the facilities provided. Having paid extra to have a room with a balcony and kitchen I had high expectations, and these were all exceeded. The room was considerably more spacious than I had expected, the in-room facilities all perfect, and the balcony a great addition that overlooked both City Hall to one side and the Museum of Art to the other. This, coupled with little extras such as being able to check in an hour early, the man at reception greeting me by name each time he saw me and the rooftop pool made for an excellent stay.

The hotel is well situated; within a couple of minutes walk of the LOVE statue and city hall, and a walkable distance to Independent Hall and the Liberty Bell (indeed I found Philadelphia as a whole to be a walkable city). Some good food choices in the vicinity (including within the hotel).

If I ever find myself in Philadelphia again, I'd not hesitate to stay again.

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies are worth the extra money.

I'm more of a cheap hostel kind of traveler but I wanted to treat myself for my time in Philly, and all I can say is that this was money well spent. I had no trouble with anything, the bed was perfect and the service was too.
It's very close to several turistic attractions and bars.
