Arrived there after a long day travelling to be told there was no room for us. We had booked 2 months previously and had contacted the hotel the week before. Staff couldn't have cared less. They told us they had a room for us at their other hotel, Sheraton Four Points at the airport and they would provide taxi fares. Taxi couldnt find the hotel and got lost. Eventually turned up at this down to heel, well worn out place that had definately seen better days. This hotel does not deserve to use the title of Sheraton. I have stayed at nicer Travel Lodges!
Went straight to bed as I couldnt face going outside the room. Got up the next morning and went straight back to the Society Hill hotel. Still no room and the Reception staff were the worst I have ever come across - they couldnt care less. They didnt seem to have any interest in their guests, give any explanation or offer any apologoes. I had to ask for a better room as way of compensation. I also told them I wanted some wine and fruit for the room - but I got a shrug of the shoulders (fruit and wine delivered later on).
If you arrive here and they say they are going to send you back to the Four Points - ask - no, demand a room at any other hotel in the city.
Staff need to undergo some customer service training. I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone - poor level of service.
Good location though once we got to stay!

We booked our room through www.gophila.com for a weekend at a "Phillie Overnight" rate. Our room was clean and comfortable, a little stained grout in the bathroom but certainly nothing revolting. There was only one piece of furniture for clothing storage- some shelves under the TV and a few small drawers. This would have been inconvenient for a longer stay. The only real objection was the noise. There were a couple of weddings the weekend we stayed and our second floor room was over the hall where loud music rocked on until after midnight.

The hotel looked great from the outside, but I can't say how it was on the inside because my room had been cancelled. The desk staff was kind and explained that the cancellation had been caused by problems with ongoing renovations, but nobody had called to inform me that my reservation was cancelled (and that I was being transferred to a room in the Sheraton Four Points, out at the airport). Had I been notified that I was being switched to a room at the Sheraton at the airport, I would've cancelled my reservation entirely and found a room elsewhere - I booked my original room specifically because the location is superb.
I don't know how long the renovations will be going on, but I recommend calling as your stay approaches to make sure they've still got a room for you!

This hotel stinks. Quite literally. The rooms and corridors have a pervading smell of decay and mustiness. It will hit you as soon as you walk into the lifts. Add to that the smell of chlorine from the swimming pool on the fourth floor and you’ve got an unpleasant cocktail. Location is good, but the decor is faded and the rooms are shabby. The staff are friendly but poorly trained. Service in the restaurant is good, but breakfast selection is very limited. We moved hotel as soon as we could.

I recently spent 3 days and 2 nights in Philadelphia. The hotel was recommended by a friend in the area. I was concerned after reading some of the reviews on this site. I decided to go for it, because the hotel is located just perfectly for touring the sites of the city. I am happy to report that when I got to the hotel, everything was good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was actually clean, fresh smelling and very pleasant. The bathroom was as good as a hotel bathroom should be. I noticed that some of paint was chipped, and the wall paper in the bathroom had some tearing, but it really didn't affect my quality of life while I was there. They are undergoing renovations, floor by floor, so this will be taken care of. The work was not loud, or during off hours, so it bother me in the least. If you go in May or June, see if you can request a renovated room for the experience. I didn't eat in the hotel, but I did park my car. The pool and hot tub were great. Valet service was quick and friendly. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to a friend, and certainly recommend that you consider it if you are planning a trip to Philly.
