“An excellent long weekend!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2012

My husband and I chose the Sheraton Society Hill for our three-night stay celebrating his birthday and our wedding anniversary last weekend, and we're very glad that we did. As is so often mentioned, the hotel's location is fabulous. It is convenient to Penn's Landing, public transportation, the historical district and many unique pubs and restaurants.

The hotel's new renovations are very well done. Our 3rd floor room was well-appointed with tasteful and comfortable furnishings, and the bed, pillows and linens were wonderful. At our request, a refrigerator was promptly brought to our room (at no additional charge). The bathroom was a decent size, nicely stocked with a large variety of toiletries, and had good water pressure, etc... While not "white-glove-test-spotless", our room was more than acceptably clean. The pool area was a treat with all the natural light and a nice, hot, robust hot tub.

The staff we encountered were consistently friendly and helpful. The bellstaff were efficient, checkin and checkout were smooth as silk, and the housekeeping staff always had our room done before we got back in the afternoon to change for dinner.

Overall, as a couple who travel a fair amount (and who are also fairly picky as I worked in the industry a number of years ago), we were very pleased with the Sheraton Society Hill and hope that we'll have the occasion to stay there again.

Room Tip: We had a "corner" room with windows facing two directions, offering a nice view of the Ben...

Met a good friend for a Phillies game and stayed in town overnight since we were planning on consuming some (many) adult beverages and wanted to take the driving factor out of the equation. Citizens Bank Park is only around a 10 minute/ $15 cab ride away from this hotel and cabs are waiting right outside.

The location of this hotel is great….pretty much within walking distance of Penn’s Landing and some of the best parts of historic Philadelphia. Definitely in the “nice” part of town. The staff was friendly and check-in was relatively quick. Elevators are slow. The cobblestone street in front certainly reminds you of the awesome history of Philadelphia.

When you pull up, the property isn’t that impressive. It kind of “blends” into the area and when
you arrive, someone in the car is going to ask “is this it?” But once you walk inside, it is clear that this is a decent hotel that has spent some money to bring to modern standards that will satisfy most guests.

I had a king room that was fairly small, but modern and well appointed. Basically the entire property was “business class” and modern to the point I can’t see any savvy traveler being disappointed.

I really had no complaints and I travel around 60 days a year on business/pleasure. On a scale of 1-10, I give this hotel a solid 8.5.

I used the valet service and would highly recommend even at the $38 a day rate. Had a delay of around 30 minutes picking the car up the following morning, but apparently it was “blocked in” and likely a one off. Parking in this part of the city is a bear so just build in plenty of time to get to and from, especially if you are driving on Columbus Ave.

In the end, a great stay; the joint was modern, comfortable and clean. And for this “hotel snob”, I would certainly recommend and certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: The hotel is only 4 floors....don't worry about any view.

For a Sheraton, this hotel was inconsistent. The lobby and bar/restaurant were well appointed and modern. The rooms were decent, nice bedding , however the hallways on our floor were somewhat dirty, with a bag of trash left in a corner and a yellow "caution slippery floor" sign stuck behind a table in the elevator lobby. For one night, this hotel was ok but I'm not sure I'd recommend it overall. Finally, the exterior signage is very subtle and thus it's easy to miss this place unless you know exactly where you're headed.

I stayed at the Sheraton Society Hill for two nights with my children when we went to Philadelphia on our way back from Williamsburg. We decided to make this stop in the last minute, so I was thrilled to see that the hotel we picked was so nice. The exterior was being renovated when we were there, and the interior must have been recently renovated because it was so attractive and immaculate. The lobby is large and inviting and the staff at the front desk were warm and helpful. The restaurant in the lobby, Taste, was not only convenient, but delicious, so we chose to eat there several times. The hotel gift shop had everything you could want. Best of all, the room was beautiful and SO comfortable. The mattresses were so plush, as were the pillows. Right outside our room was an inviting indoor pool. Since went to Philadelphia to see the historical sites, this was the perfect choice because we were able to walk to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. When we return next summer, we hope to stay here again!

I had stayed at this hotel twice before it was renovated. It was nice then but it is beautiful now. They chose the color scheme and room amenities with care and it shows. The quality of the linens down to the shampoo and conditioner were surprisingly superior to many of the "higher end" hotels i have stayed in. It is not far from anything, especially the Historic District. I look forward to my next stay in one of my favorite cities.

We booked through Travelocity use secret hotel deal. For $88 (+ tax and fees) for 2 people we got a fantastic deal. Our suite was a conference suite, which meant it had a large table, a queen size foldout couch, and a king size bed. It also had a mini bar with small fridge and separate freezer compartment, but no microwave. However a microwave was available in the ice and vending area. Everything could use a little sprucing up cleaning-wise, but it seems sanitary. The fitness center was very small, but had very good quality Life Fitness equipment. Overall, we would definitely stay again if we got the same deal, but probably not if we were paying the full, normal rate. Parking was an additional $7 per day fee.

I stayed here for business for a week in August 2012 and was impressed with the hotel. The room was a huge corner room on the 4th floor. The rooftop pool was fantastic - clean and spacious. The staff was very helpful and polite. The beds made me wish I had the mattress at home! Really a lovely place with a great location close to all of the restaurants and tourist areas in society hill. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: 4th floor corner room
