My boyfriend and I stayed here last year and had the best time. Very clean and the big jacuzzi tub was a great way to end the day. The fire place was perfect as we were there in February. The staff was very nice and was close to so many things. We would stay here again for sure.

Room Tip: The Queen room with the tub and fire place. Very roomy and clean.

Our room was really noisy even though we asked for a quiet room. The location is sort of OK but backs onto some sort of freeway. The view's not good. I wouldn't recommend it. Not a memorable hotel and we were disappointed.

This is a wonderful small hotel down in Old City, Philadelphia, near great restaurants, theatres, movies, and historical landmarks. We stayed one night as a holiday treat and loved our smallish room with natural light and a clean, well-equipped bathroom. The interiors are tasteful and up-to-date. Continental breakfast is adequate, with waffles, boiled eggs, toast, and fruit. (Coffee needs to be stronger and warmer!) Depending on the room, you get some drone from I-95, but it's hard to be in a major city without some kind of ambient city noise. If you stay here, make sure you indulge in a wine flight at the restaurant and wine bar, Panorama. They have a great wine selection and the bartender this time (unlike our waiter when we were here for flights back in September) was friendly and very helpful. We plan to return to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place that isn't cookie-cutter.

Room Tip: Our room on the 5th floor was very pleasant. Nice views from the 5th - probably a lot better than be...

Where do i begin.....
I did a lot of research and was looking forward to spend a few days after Christmas in the cosy bed and breakfast close to major points in Philadelphia. Neither one is true: it is not really B&B, nor it is close to any of the main attractions except one. But let me get down the list.

1. The hotel is located at the edge of the Old City, right above the highway. To get ANYWHERE in the historic district you have to walk a few miles or drive. "Beautiful view of the Delaware river" includes visual and audio of the multi-lane highway.

2. We stayed in room 400 - Premium Queen with fireplace and a jaccuzi. What a joke! "Charming period decor" is a wallpapered standard hotel room with no adequate storage. Out of four days we stayed there the fireplace was working for about 15 minutes, and stuff did not bother to fix it after it was reported. When i attempted to open it myself the door fell apart and glass ended up, or rather down on my feet!

3. Same happened when i attempted to open the window - it fell straight on me, as the clasps were non functional! Someone just "placed" the frame where it is supposed to be without bothering to secure it. Besides, all three window frames were disgustingly filthy.

4. Outlets in the room were working sporadically, as someone was cutting the circuits outside of the room. We were not able to reliably charge our phones and computers. Besides, WI-FI was very sketchy during our stay, though it is not major complaint - it can happen anywhere, may be i was just unlucky :)

5. The drain in the sink was working very poorely - the water just stayed there for a while. Besides, there were no fan in the restroom. No air fresheners either. Really????

6. The gym is a joke. One can have a workout despite, and not because it is there. It is located on the 4th floor, and you can here machines being used there right from the room.

7. Around 6 AM on Sunday morning we were woken up by laundry machines. Guest services suggested it was people above us using jaccuzzi. May be. I could hear them quite clearly every time they were walking in there room.

Overall, this hotel looked old and shabby, and not in a good way.
There were a good things though too (below), but they did not make up for all the things i mentioned above. I will not stay again in this hotel, and would not recommend it. Good quality chain cost half of that and does the same job with no loud promises.

Anyway, here is list of things i found to be positive about our stay here:
1. They make excellent tiramisu
2. Double windows do shield most of the highway noise
3. It did not smell old.
4. The stuff was friendly
5. The bed was comfortable

Even though this property has a lot of positive features i give it only 2 marks because of misrepresentation. Please take a look at the pictures. It is not $200+ per night property.

Spent a night here for anniversary night. The lobby is small but first impression is that of a European hotel. Staff was very friendly and check in was smooth. We received an actual key for the room no key cards here. Our room was a nice size. I loved the wood floors and exposed brick wall, it was cozy and gave it such a historic feel. The room was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The closet is very tiny. The bathroom was huge with a large jacuzzi tub. We didnt have a view from our room which was fine. You are right near 95 and Ben Franklin bridge so you do hear some traffic. The fitness room is small but has enough for a good workout if you have an extended stay. The continental breakfast is not much. The english muffins were hard and there wasnt a huge selection for breakfast. The coffee was very good though. The hotel is a great location for enjoying all of Old City. Lots of great restaurants, bars and shopping close by. Not to mention the all the historical attractions. There is parking lot right at hotel but not run by hotel. It was 23 for the night. We loved this hotel and will return!

This out-of-the-way establishment in Philadelphia is an absolute gem. Not far from the train station, we checked in quite early, but the reception staff were only too happy to let us in - that was very much appreciated!! We were then invited to have a contintental breakfast - included in our visit. The rooms are very generous ( room 505 ) and beautifully appointed with marble bathrooms, and very little street noise due to the tucked-away location. The bed was huge and very comfortable. Free Wi-Fi included and will call taxis for you no problems. There is a lovely Italian restaurant called Panorama which is part of this hotel and I think I had the best Italian meal ever there!! It also has the hugest selection of wines we have ever seen!! Penns View is also very convenient to everything and easily within walking distance around the city. I would definitely stay there again.

This was an older hotel with small rooms, but well maintained and clean. Very tiny lobby, front desk staff was helpful but not always at the front desk. The hotel is just a short 5-10 minute walk to the historical area, so this made it attractive. The price was the most reasonable in the area so we decided to stay here. Our next trip to Philadelphia though, we will probably pay a little more and stay in the center of town.
