“Very nice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

This is a nice hotel located right in the heart of every thing. If you are looking for nightlife this hotel is close to bars, theaters and restaurants.

Only complaint not sure if only in my room. The air condition vent is located right across from the bed. There is a cold draft blowing right on you the entire time. Other than that the hotel is great!

Stayed here for 3 nights after taking the Amtrak train from NYC. Hotel is only a couple of stops from 30th Station on the local metro. Found the room to be very clean and comfortable. There is free wi-fi in the lobby and a well organized fitness center and lap pool. The hotel is centrally located - close to Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. South Street is only a few minutes away by bus. I would definitely stay here again.

Beautifully maintained and updated art deco hotel. My room was spacious and beautifully decorated with a fabulous view of the city. Incredibly comfortable beds with upscale linens. Everything was clean and spotless. Hotel staff and Parking Attendants were friendly and very helpful. Also enjoyed the concierge floor continental breakfast included with my room charge.

My husband and I just spent our 25th wedding annivery in Philly. What a great choice to stay at Lowes. The staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant was very good. We had a corner room that was very clean and had a fabulous view of the city. I even received a hand written thank you note from housekeeping for a tip I left her. Never had that happen before. Kudos to all at lowes. Will be staying again.

Had the pleasure of staying at this lovely Art deco hotel. The room we had faced the Delaware river - great view, spacious, clean and a huge bed. The mini bar is well stocked, but with plenty of 7elevens stores around, you are better off getting a 'free' refrigerator delivered and store your drinks there - NOTE: the mini bar has an electronic sensor and will bill you if you remove items, so beware. Great coffee maker with 'take out' cups so no need to stop at Starbucks (although there is one right across the street.

Bathroom is roomy with lotions and potions should you happen to forget to bring your own. Hairdryer, bathrobes available with ironing board. Safe is slightly on the small side - can take wallets, passports, small digital camera and mobile phones (up to 4 at least!), but not laptop.

We took the train ($8 per person) straight from Airport to Market East Station - 20mins train ride and then it was 2 mins walk to hotel. Location is perfect for all attractions and public transport - and right next door to 'Macy'! We walked everywhere - from South Street to Philadelphia Museum of Art - this hotel location is great for all the tourist spots, with the Philly Phlash trolley stops more or less outside the hotel if you feel like a break from walking.

One thing that I would have to point out is the 'banging' doors - for such a wonderful hotel, they have let themselves down by not having some soft closing hinges so that the doors can be stopped from swinging shut with a bang. Either that or a polite notice to inconsiderate guests to remind them to keep noise down...... on which point I would like to say (strictly not fault of hotel) we did have one night of being woken up at 3am by drunken guests, one whom obviously had a fight with partner and cannot get back to their room! Did telephoned reception and they apologised, stating they will send security to check things out.

Only had a couple of drinks at Sole - prices as you would expect at hotels. Food is just fab at Reading Terminal and then you are spoilt for choices, either towards Walnut Street/Rittenhouse Square area or China Town, both a nice ten minutes stroll away.

Enjoyed my first Baseball game at Citizen Bank Stadium ( Phillies won against Atlanta Braves, 6th Sept). Got the Sub from City Hall, 3 mins walk from hotel. Journey took less than 10mins.

Despite warnings from other reviews, I felt safe on the streets of Philadelphia - on this trip and previous one back in 2009. I had walked about on my own late at night or early mornings to the 7Eleven store behind the hotel and felt quite safe - yes, there are homeless people around, but they kept themselves to themselves. (Quite sad to see so many around and you can't help, but to offer them a few dollars or so)

Despite the negative, we highly recommend this hotel and we for sure will stay here again - how can we not when my partner propose to me at this very hotel on this wonderful trip.....!

Room Tip: Floor 18 and above and away from elevators.

Service was great. Check in was very easy. Very busy hotel that weekend. Room was clean. Only issue was that the toilet in the room never stopped running. I called the front desk and they said that it would be looked at. When we returned to the room that evening I noticed that it was still running. So I fixed it myself (float was sticking) The lobby needs some more seating. I think that there was only 4 chairs in the lobby.

I stayed one night at this hotel with three collegues. On our way back from dinner, my CEO mentioned that it always seems so peaceful in this hotel. I told him that it was the reason I asked our admin to book it, I've always had a very pleasant stay here.

The check in staff were gracious and friendly. The wait staff in the Sole restaurant were kind and friendly. The rooms were clean and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. It's located in the heart of Philadelphia and was easy walking distance to our meetings, the restaurants, the Pennslyvania Convention Center and the Reading Terminal Market, all two to three blocks away.
For me, when travelling on business these are key elements to my hotel stay if at all possible. I highly recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.
