“Great experience”

The staff in this hotel is by far the friendliest, kindest staff I have ever encountered. From the moment the valet parked my car to the time I checked out, each and every member of the staff was helpful and made sure I had everything I needed. Comfortable beds, great atmosphere, and a beautiful view of the city. We had about 30-40 people staying for a wedding. The bar Soul Food at night was was GREAT place to go after and have drinks. DJ, great music, and a ton of people!!! I will definitely be staying there again when I return to Philadelphia. Nick the night bell boy was FANTASTIC!!!

Loews is a nice hotel, centrally located with easy access to train to airport and bus or train to Amtrak station. Hard Rock Cafe is just across the road. Views from hotel are great, see right through to Penn Landing and Jersey. The rooms are not as well sound proofed as should be at this level. Can hear the plumbing especially, made for an uncomfortable night's sleep.

Chose this hotel because of a package deal through Orbitz. We were pleasantly surprised that the location was so ideal for our vacation. The ride in from the airport via SEPTA was easy and inexpensive. The station is right across the street from the hotel. What a convenience! We liked the location because we were able to walk in both directions and see all the interesting sights both east and west of 12th and Market. The staff was particularly friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful and we had a view to the west overlooking the City Hall. The housekeeping staff maintained the room and it was always clean with plenty towels, etc. We were even asked what time of the day would be the most convenient for us to have the room cleaned. The restaurant was just okay, but that didn't matter because of all the great restaurants within walking distance. I would choose to stay in this hotel again.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor so you can enjoy the view either east or west

From the minute we drove up to the hotel to find where we were supposed to park, the people were genuinely happy to see us. They were very helpful and more friendly than any hotel I've ever been to. Every person, from the valet, to the front desk, the bell hop, and even passing employees who heard us looking for something, took the time to greet us and get us what we needed. The hotel was very modern and didn't have the run-of-the-mill furniture you'd expect at a hotel. It was family friendly, they even gave out coloring books and crayons. The location of the hotel couldn't be better. Very close to many attractions, within walking distance. Upon checking out, they give you till 5:00 to park in their facility if you want to do more site seeing. This saved on more parking costs. We got a high floor with a great view, as opposed to the other side of the hall where the bell hop told us the view was bad. We were treated well! This is definitely what I would consider to be a high-quality hotel and recommend it to many others.

Scored this hotel on Priceline for a great deal. We were really excited to stay at this hotel, as it looked nice in the pictures. The hotel itself is beautiful, well designed (albeit confusing elevators) and historic. The recently renovated rooms are particularly nice. Our favorite features of the hotel were the 5th floor gym and pool area, and the view on the 33rd floor which was amazing! Loews prides itself on its service, and everyone we encountered were very friendly and helpful, especially the front desk staff and housekeeping. We were upgraded to a corner handicapped room, which was large, bright, and spacious. We requested a fridge in the room, but we were told initially that the hotel does not have any fridges. We asked if we could empty the minibar but were told that it would cost money as it has the sensors, etc. Instead, we received two buckets of ice in our room. Later, someone came up to empty the minibar in the room. We also requested a rollaway bed, and then just to be sure we asked the gentleman who brought it up if he could possibly get us a fridge. He replied, "sure, I'll bring one right up."! not sure what this whole rigmarole was (maybe they don't want to waste fridges on priceline guests), but the whole thing didn't bode well for the hotel or the loews service. There were also a bunch of little things that we didn't expect to encounter in a four diamond hotel. Our sheets had a small hole in them, and the beds were not made well on either day of our stay. The carpet was none too clean, nor the chair in our room (which seems to attract dust and other particles). The desk had big scratches on the side. And the water pressure in the shower was bad. One of these things wouldn't bother us, but together they just left us with a bad impression. We also weren't impressed with the door staff. We walked past several other hotels, and all of them have at least two or three doormen/belllhops standing at the entrance to the hotel, opening doors, greeting guests, getting taxis, etc. At the Loews there was only one guy who stood to the side, sometimes outside, sometimes in the lobby. He completely ignored us and the other guests, and as the doors were electric, certainty didn't bother to open them. We were very put off by this kind of treatment at a so called "four star hotel." Overall not a bad stay, just a bunch of little things that could have been better. Next time we'd try the Westin, it looks much nicer.

Room Tip: We really liked 616, great views!!!!

There are lots of great things about the hotel (read about them in the other reviews), but I experienced two negatives. First, the safe did not work. I called the front desk and they said they would send someone right up. I waited 15 min but no one ever showed. Second, the comforter was very heavy and there was no light blanket, so you get either really hot (with comforter) or really cold (without it). The front desk offered no solutions. Otherwise it was a beautiful and elegant hotel. Good location.

I stayed at the Loews Philadelphia in early June and had a great stay. The room, amenities and staff were great. The incorporation of the history about the PSFS, the architecture and the restoration of the beautiful building enhanced the stay. The fitness center, restaurant and room service were all excellent as well.
