A pleasant stay in Loews Philadelphia with top-tier service and friendliness on the part of the doorman, concierge, baggage staff. The room was nice, the view was not (not a big deal). The one complaint my wife had were "dust bunnies" in the common area of the 12th floor, which I wouldn't have noticed until she pointed it out.
Otherwise, the building is cool in an historic kind of way (has an old time bank vault and one of the first "automatic elevator banks" in the country. Walking around the neighborhood can be a schizoid experience -- the local scene is alternately hip and sketchy. Terrific bars and restaurants within walking distance (the concierge recommended El Vez for a Mexican lunch, and Green Eggs for brunch -- both excellent recommendations). $48 overnight for the hotel's valet parking is off the charts expensive, I must say, but park half a block away on 13th Street for $17.
Bottom line, the stay was a terrific value and we will be back, though we'll ask for a room with a view next time.
