“Nice art-deco/historic hotel in Philly's Convention Center Area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

A pleasant stay in Loews Philadelphia with top-tier service and friendliness on the part of the doorman, concierge, baggage staff. The room was nice, the view was not (not a big deal). The one complaint my wife had were "dust bunnies" in the common area of the 12th floor, which I wouldn't have noticed until she pointed it out.

Otherwise, the building is cool in an historic kind of way (has an old time bank vault and one of the first "automatic elevator banks" in the country. Walking around the neighborhood can be a schizoid experience -- the local scene is alternately hip and sketchy. Terrific bars and restaurants within walking distance (the concierge recommended El Vez for a Mexican lunch, and Green Eggs for brunch -- both excellent recommendations). $48 overnight for the hotel's valet parking is off the charts expensive, I must say, but park half a block away on 13th Street for $17.

Bottom line, the stay was a terrific value and we will be back, though we'll ask for a room with a view next time.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the city skyline, or you'll wind up with an ugly panorama of other...

Thank you for taking the time to place a review on Trip Advisor. Loews Philadelphia is known for its history of the PSFS Building as well as our “top-tier service and our friendly Staff.” However, I see that we need to work on those “dust bunnies”. I will be speaking with our Director of Housekeeping to make sure our hotel is spotless from top to bottom. Thank you for your feedback and we hope to see you again soon.

My family and I were here this weekend for the Amerikick internationals karate tournement. We got here on Friday around 11:30 expecting to only be able to drop our bags off and go sightseeing. We went to check in desk and they had us in our room 1812 within 5 minutes! We got to our room and it was clean.(except the one douvete which they came in and changes it right away). We went up to the 33 floor to see the view was spectacular! We went over to the convention center for the first night of competition and we came back to the hotel. We were hungry and wanted pizza delivery and the concierge told us about nypd pizza which was fabulous. The Saturday the day of the tournement everyone we came across said good luck to our son and greeted our three year old with a smile. When we got back they congratulated our son on his winnings. After dinner we went out for ice cream. When we left the hotel the doormen greeted us and asked us if we needed a cab but we walked and on our walk back the doorman tarique stopped us and started talking to us about karate.
Everyone was so nice to us.
When we checked out they told us that we were getting our money back that they ran when we checked in and they didn't tell us it would take a couple a days to get back in our account which was the money we alotted for food when we checked out but Jaime took care of that and got it realesed to us! Thank you for a awesome stay

Wow so many exclamations points. Thank you for making us your “favorite Philly hotel.” Congratulations on your son’s win. Our staff of service professionals strives to make every stay memorable; from engaging in conversations, offering assistance, to greeting you with a smile during every encounter. Tarique is a huge karate fan and was just as proud of your son’s victory as you were. I see we were not so thorough in the cleanliness of your duvet cover and your room credit. However, I am happy to see that Jaime and Housekeeping were able to rectify he situations swiftly and to your satisfaction. I will be reviewing your comments with our Director of Housekeeping. Thank you again and we can’t wait to see you again.

We just got home from our stay at the Loews. From the moment we checked in, to the moment we left, the service was excellent. I have never stayed in a hotel where the staff was so attentive and completely did their job with a smile. The room was clean and we had a beautiful view of the city. I would definitely stay here again.

The Loews Hotel in Philadelphia is one of the best hotels I've ever been to. It is right in the city center very close to the city hall and the terminal market (which is a great option to get breakfast) in a very charming old bank building that happened to be one of the first modern skyscrapers.
According to their manager Shennell, who was very nice, helpful and informative the hotel is/was just going through a renovation in February (Although there were renovations supposed to be happening, I didn't notice any kind of disturbances). The room I got was just renovated and had very nice new furniture, a flat screen tv, coffee/tea maker.

Besides the proximity to the center, its brand new interior and the good service, it also has most likely the best views you can get from a hotel room in Philadelphia. I stayed in a corner room in the 27th floor with a view towards the north, where you could see until the horizon and the west, giving a great view on William Penn+the city hall, the comcast building and the other skyscrapers. Excellent is also the fact that almost the whole wall consists out of windows, which emphasizes the more than spectacular views and brings much daylight into the room.

In advance you can use their webpage to chat and to ask questions about the hotel. It was very helpful to chat with Britney before I arrived.

I also used the spa facilities. They have a swimming pool, a gym, a steam bath and a sauna. The sauna is sex-separate and was empty when I used it on a Saturday morning. It was relatively big, but rather cold and lacked a thermometer and a sand timer.

A little minus is that you have to pay extra (12.95$/24h) to get internet access in the room and extra to print something. But they have been kind and were printing one page, that we urgently needed, for free, when we asked them to do so and told them that we were already paying for the internet.

I also like the design and general construction of the hotel, with rooms starting not lower than from the 8th floor with 3 corner rooms per floor (Luxury Kings -21st/ Grand luxury king -29th/ premium king -33) Overall I would definitely recommend and choose the hotel again.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are very bright and have offer the best views in the city.

Thank you so much for all your kind words and for the five star review. It was great to hear you mention our helpful staff, new renovated rooms, and great location. Our Grand King rooms are one of the best rooms in the hotel. The view is indeed outstanding. Shennell and Britney will be very excited to see you appreciated their informative information on the hotel. I was disappointed to see that the sauna wasn’t working properly. I will make sure our Director of Engineering is aware of the issues you mentioned. We can’t wait to see you again soon and make sure you take advantage of our complimentary Wifi in the Lobby, Solefood Restaurant, and Breathe Spa.

I was in Philadelphia for a week in March and was very impressed with the friendly staff and the newly renovated rooms. I was on a high floor with great views of the city. The hotel is in a great location close to everything. I would highly recommend this hotel.

My husband stays here frequently for business & he's a platinum member. Generally it's all good. I checked in day after he did and desk staff was attentive as usual. Arrived at room to find door was open. Luckily nothing was stolen. Room was not clean when he checked in and chair ottoman was removed and not returned to room. No coffee maker in-room; no mini bar in-room. They have updated the rooms but wondering why they missed the details. Room service staff is great, though and Tarique the doorman is perfect for the front line--very attentive & sets the standard for the hotel. Too bad they're not keeping track of the details.

Thank you for your very informative comment and for being a Loews Platinum member. I would first like to apologize that our standards were not up to par and are slipping. This is not the norm and the issues you have mentioned have been addressed with our Executive Housekeeper. We are happy to announce that our Minibars have been installed and our coffee makers are now in a viewable location. I would also like to thank you for your kind words about Tarique he is indeed the “perfect front line” for the hotel and we will be sharing your comment with him. Thankyou again for your response.

From check-in to departure, an excellent experience. Cannot be complimentary enough about the fitness facility, heated lap pool and incredible, yet healthier, food items to select while attending in-hotel conference. SOLE a bit pricey for my company's per diem but within 3-blocks is most any type of food for most any type of budget. And the ice cream place on Walnut and 12th is worth the 0.3 mile walk!

Thank you for your post. We are happy to see you chose Loews Philadelphia Hotel to get a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. You are one of many who just love BreatheSpa. There are a lot of people in the city who visit the hotel just to use the Spa and Fitness center instead of going to a local gym in the area. We look forward to your future visit.
