“Pet- & Kid-friendly hotel in the middle of Philly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

My family (including our golden retriever) just spent 3 days at the Loews in Philadelphia. It is a pet- and kid-friendly hotel, in a central location. We had a corner room with 2 double beds, which was perfect for 2 adults, a kid, and a dog. Everything seemed clean, but I did not like the flat, old-feeling pillows. The hotel also has a distinct scent, almost like a perfume? Service is attentive and very friendly. We valet parked our car for the entire weekend and walked (or took public transportation) to several sights. The hotel is a short walk to Reading Terminal Market and the LOVE Park; Macy's and City Hall are a couple of blocks away. One problem I had was finding a place for my dog to do his "business," because it's definitely a concrete jungle there!

Room Tip: Corner rooms are very spacious and have nice views.

We really liked the Lowes Philadelphia Hotel. Super easy check in, valet parking and great walkable location to everything. We booked a luxury king corner room. What a great room with a view of City Hall. All the windows made this a really bright and luxurious room. The bed, linens, bathroom amenities, and flat screen tv made this a very comfortable and yes luxurious room. There is a coffee maker, mini fridge, nice bathrobes. We got a fantastic rate right on the hotel website, making my pleasure with the room even greater.

We were traveling with another couple, so we were concerned about them being happy with our choice, and they were not disappointed. Reading Market is right there. We walked down to take a carriage ride in Society Hill, Olde Town. We walked to Rittenhouse Square, and JFK Love Plaza. There are so many restaurants and bars around.

We only stayed one night, so we did not use many of the hotels amenities. We hope to stay longer next time. We would choose this hotel again on a future visit.

Room Tip: Spend the extra money for a corner room.

My husband and I spent a week at the Lowes Philadelphia Hotel recently. The location was perfect for us, and for anyone planning on doing a lot of walking around, sightseeing. It's about halfway between the Independence Hall/Liberty Bell area and the museum area, and a short walk from the Rittenhouse Square shopping area. There are many great restaurants nearby, and all of the holiday events are within a few blocks (the Christmas market, the train display at Reading Terminal Market, the Comcast and Macy's light shows, etc). It was just a great, great location.

We also loved the staff at the Lowes Philadelphia Hotel. Everyone was super friendly and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The amenities were nice -- it has probably the largest hotel gym that I've ever seen. Lap pool is small (just two lanes) but was usually free when we were there. Everything was clean, bed was comfy...what more could we ask for?

Room Tip: We were near the elevator, and heard an occasional noise but not much.

Based on the other TripAdvisor reviews, I was expecting to find "an architectural gem." Unfortunately, it was not; it's somewhat outdated and with cheesy details such as colorful marble. As a big design aficionado, I was disappointed to discover this was no art deco decor, at least not a contemporary one. However, I will say the rooms was very spacious, very clean, with a great view, and the bed was perfection. I booked a room with breakfast included, but the hotel did not receive all the details from the booking company, so make sure you double check with the reception. They almost charged me for it, and wouldn't believe me I had breakfast included. I also booked it for its pool, but this was a huge disappointment as well: very narrow, only 4 ft deep, and when I went, full of children. All in all though, not bad.

Based in the first skyscraper built in Philadelphia, the art-deco, marble and old photos make this an architectural gem. Excellent service for both people and pets, with hot apple cider (yum) upon arrival each evening and the usual Loews treats for dogs. Great location for both business and sightseeing visits to Philadelphia, and both Macy's and the Convention Center are just 2 blocks away. The one problem during my stay was that the room was right next to the service elevator, which sounded like it was coming through my room any time it went up or down past my floor - next time I would go down and ask for a room change. Bathroom was well apportioned and bed was nice and comfortable. Restaurant in the lobby is awesome (and unappreciated), make sure to walk over to Reading Terminal Market which is just two blocks away for lots of fresh foods

Went to the Loews Philadelphia Hotel last June and stayed there for two nights. It's a very good hotel. The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the service was great. Unfortunately, there was a problem with the desk, as one of the doors kept coming off. There are some good restaurants nearby, especially the two I went during my stay: Fogo de Chao, and Hard Rock Cafe.

This 1920's former bank building is a fantastic building for an upscale hotel. The marble in the hallways and lobby is stunning. I also love the original clocks, the vault, and the old pictures. It gives you an idea how the people lived and worked in the 20's. We had a grand corner king room and the view was absolutely incredible! I did not want to leave the room, exepcially at night! The bedding is comfortable, the decor is modern, and the bathroom is spacious. The guy who checked us in was very nice and even let us check in a few hours early. Great location, just two blocks from Reading Terminal Market and near to many historical sights. Lots of restaurants and bars nearby. This is the place to stay in dowtown Philly!
