“A lovely stay...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Stayed for one night during Labor Day weekend. Go there about 2:30PM and were told that our room was not ready yet, due to the 4PM check-in. We were given a marked parking garage ticket which allowed us to come and go as we please. The garage by the way is $36 per day, which is charged by the hotel. The garage by the way has a separate entrance from the hotel, so you will have to bring back bags down to the garage elevator main floor and walk next door to the hotel in order to bring it to your room and vice versa if necessary. We parked the car, killed some time around the area and came back at 4PM, when our room was ready. The lines during check in (probably due to the holiday weekend) were long and it took quite some time to check in. The hotel itself was very nice. The lobby was nice and modern with a huge touch screen display that helps you map out your visit. There was lots of seating and a bar area which I am not sure if it public or not. During our visit I believe a wedding party was there, which they probably rented out. I did see an exercise room and a mini store closeby the lobby check in area. The hallways were lovely and the room was great. Very neat and clean. The beds were very comfortable. The room was not that big, but most big city hotel rooms aren't. Wifi was very slow, which can be a bit annoying at times. The location is definitely a big selling point of this hotel as this place is about 3 blocks away from the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. A lot of museums are around in the area as well as Penns Landing, which was lovely views of the Ben Franklin Bridge. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to take in the historic tourist attractions of Philadelphia.

Also, I did not run into the "construction" issues that other reviewers have faced in the recent past.

Room Tip: FYI - $36 parking fee per day

Great location in historic Philadelphia. Walking distance to many attractions.
Hotel restaurant service was very slow. No continental breakfast offered.
Service staff made many mistakes on our check in and checkout. We actually got a call at midnight from the desk clerk confirming a reservation about the late night arrival of my daughter and family. Obviously getting a call while you're sound asleep without an apology was very irritating.

The staff was friendly and courteous they made the experience amazing. The room was clean and comfy no issues that I could see. As for the conference room it was amazing they provided a white glue lunch with some killer brownies. Oh the chicken salad was to kill for. As a corporate trainer I would recommend this lovely place again and again.

We booked at the Wyndham because the location was in historic downtown, and past experiences with this chain have been great. Upon check in, in the afternoon, we asked for a crib for our daughter that did not show up until we called the desk again later that evening. When we walked up to our room there were garbage and an empty pizza box outside our room. No housekeeping anywhere. My wife asked if our room was clean, I assumed since they sent us to the room it should be ready. When we walked in at first it looked ready. The bed was made and towels and all were in order. We moved the desk chair to sort luggage to find a pair of dirty women's underware on the chair, then noticed the room was poorly vacuumed. Chip crumbs and stuff was left along the bottom edge of the bed and dresser. We called the front desk and they sent someone to resolve those issues. We are already concerned because we are traveling with a baby we would like to have on the floor to crawl a bit, but decided to keep her on the bed. Then my wife noticed a fare amour of hair on the bathroom floor that would have come up with a broom. She used the hotel towels to mop the floor. So house keeping was greatly lacking. Parking is not included and will run an additional $36 per day and you have to leave the hotel to get to the parking garage.
On our second night we tried to order dinner and dessert for room service. The menu sold us. Nobody answered and a machine told us to leave the order on the machine. We did and an hour later, no food, no confirmation call, so we called the front desk to cancel. I then left for a 9pm walk to get dinner for my family.
Decent service was all that was lacking. We have had much cleaner rooms and better service at Holiday Inn and many other hotels.

Dear Trip Advisor Guest,

Thank you for your feedback. What can I say. We fell far short to our standards of service and for that I truly apologize. I do promise however that it will be addressed with all members of the team. There are no excuses. Again, my apologies.

Regards,

Since 2000 we have always stayed at this hotel when we are in Philadelphia, from Holiday Inn to now The Wyndham. We love the location, service has always been great, it is also very easy to get to for us when we come over the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. We are planning another visit in October and will definitely stay there again.
