“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

This hotel is located very close to the historic sites. Decent price for the area including parking. Things look a bit outdated but the room was very nice, the only problem was the heating was too hot and hard to control. There was an iron and ironing board, small closet and table. Fast checkout.
I recommend it for a short stay to visit the historic attractions. A couple blocks away there are a few good restaurants and bars, we went to one called National Mechanics.

Room Tip: Ours had a view to the cemetery, you may not like that.

“A little annoyed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

In the beginning, I was excited to go to this Holiday Inn because it is so close to so many sites and the reviews were good. Its really not great. Our view was of a wall. Please be more careful when booking at this hotel. We made the best of it.

The best part of the hotel is Dennis who is not even the front desk, but instead is there to help with guests and thier heavy bags.

Room Tip: the seven floor is the best, but make sure your are not facing the wall

Thank you for staying with us. Unfortunately, in the city it is hard to avoid the walls of buildings. We are lucky in Old City that we have pleasant views on most sides. I shared your comment with Dennis. We think he's great too.

“Great Location, Lovely Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

I got a last minute deal for this hotel on Hotwire, and didn't know what to expect; especially since I was not familiar with Philadelphia. I was in town largely to explore the historical sites, and the location for that couldn't be beat. All of my interactions with the staff were great; particularly Susan at the front desk. She couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful at check-in. I forgot to pack a razor and when I called the front desk to inquire about a replacement, they brought one up to me in less than five minutes.

Hotel was clean for the most part, but there was some weird bright yellow filmy stuff in the sink; similar in color and texture to the "butter" on microwave popcorn. I washed it myself with soap and sanitizer, but it left me feeling a little less excited about the cleanliness. Linens and towels did appear to be fresh.

All in all, it was a positive stay and a good experience. I don't know that it's worth some of the other rates that I've seen, but if you can get a discount of some sort, I'd highly recommend it.

“Good value for money and location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

An older hotel, a bit frayed around the edges, but in an excellent location, close to major tourist attractions, great pubs and restaurants. Complimentary wi-fi, discount parking for guests.
Downside, room heating old and hard to control and no extra blankets in the room.

“Location, Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012

The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Independence Hall, the Liberty Bell, and the Visitors' Center. The best rate came through central Holiday Inn on line by selecting the AAA option: $114.95 a night included parking and breakfast for two. Garage parking in this area is normally $20 and up for anything over 2 hours; most hotels charge extra as does the Holiday Inn without the Triple A option. In addition, we were allowed to leave our car till 5 PM on the morning we checked out. Our breakfast choices were taken from a full, sit down menu ... whatever we wanted. In addition, there is free access to the internet using the hotel's computers.

The hotel is quite pleasant with nicely furnished public areas and rooms. There is a pool on the roof which we didn't use since it was December.
