“Post Office, Printing Press, Old City Philly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

I've taken my sons on many trips to Philadelphia, mainly in the late '90's when we were studying Pennsylvania history and Early American History. Living in the suburbs of Philadelphia has been a real plus when it comes to "touching and seeing" history. The area of Old City where Ben Franklin's first post office is located is worth a visit. You can even buy stamps and mail letters with the original postmark from Franklin's day. We never went to the underground museum because there was so much to see and hear on ground level! A guide demonstrated Ben's printing press and made some sample pages using it. We were led on a tour upstairs where the tourist was able to see the "insides" of the building. If the museum is closed, there are still many things to see right in this area. Betsy Ross's house, Carpenter's Hall, Independence Hall, and the Liberty Bell, all within walking distance. Enjoy your visit to historic Philadelphia!

“History Re-lived”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

Franklin court is a wonderful place to visit and filled with interesting facts. When we visited, "Ben Franklin" was there and we visited with him for about 1/2 hour. He was very clever and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Spend as little or as much time as you wish. Don't miss the underground museum. If you are lucky, someone will be playing a lovely instrument Franklin invented.

“ok, on the walk, so stop in”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2012

We must have missed the sites here. We walked in to the cove and saw the "frame," but didn't see anything else. The tour guide gave some info, but it was otherwise a brief stop. Free to see what we saw. Guess we missed the other stuff that was worth seeing. Wish we had seen more about Ben Franklin and details of his life and the history. The kids were pretty worn out by the time we made it here, so it may not have worked anyway.

“Benny's stomping ground!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2012

Love this! There's so much to see here, but it's all small and close together, so it's easy to see everything. Most of the sites are open at 9 am daily, but some don't open till 10:00 or noon, so just be aware of that. The guy at the post office wasn't very friendly, but make sure to at least go in. =) It's cool to see the outline of where his house was and see the passageway he walked every day while he lived there. Rumor has it Ben still shows up now and again!
