“Good Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013 via mobile

Overall it is a nice hotel, but the rooms need some updating: carpet, wall paper.

The hotel is within a walking distance from the historic landmarks and restaurants. We were able to walk to the Independence Hall in about 20 minutes. Public transportation is also available, such as the city bus or Phlash for about $2.00 per person.

Many thanks to the Sheraton in Phila for a wonderful stay. We were welcomed and treated nicely. Last minute deal and visit for the 4th of July fireworks. Perfect view of the art museum and city!! Room was clean and slightly worn. Didn't bother us. I am not overly detail oriented. Overall, we got the service and comfort we expected from a Sheraton. Hotel is super well situated for everything someone would want to do! Very close to Love Park, City Hall, Art Museum, Franlin Institute. A few block walk to the Reading Terminal.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the Art museum and at least the 9th floor.

The Concierge individual Mary Mastrobuoni was absolutely the very best we have ever encountered in all the hotels we have stayed. She remembered our names right away and always called us by name. Her recommendations were fabulous and couldn't do enough for us. Always making us feel so welcome there as well as "important." She certainly goes above and beyond for her guests. We would definitely stay there again.
Also, in the Club Level Lounge, Michael was professional, kind and terrific. There were guests who took great advantage of the "free food" and were messy, sloppy. He kept his cool and professionalism. They would leave quite a bit of uneaten food as well. He handled the situation very well. Kudos to him.

Room Tip: Don't know of other rooms than ours. But of course higher the floor more the view

I've stayed in this hotel several times before and it's been perfectly fine for a quick overnight getaway. I believe the hotel is in the process of being renovated. I stayed most recently in one of the older rooms, which was still clean and comfortable, but showing some wear. A group of young people (teenagers?) were staying on our floor, so there was some noise, as well as door slamming from the ice/vending machine room, which was annoying. Otherwise, I received excellent value. All staff I encountered was friendly and helpful, including the front desk, housekeeping and doormen. The hotel is a couple of blocks off the beaten path and it seems a little deserted in the immediate area at night on the weekends. A helpful tip: there is a garage across 18th Street from the hotel that only costs $5 per 24 hours on weekends and at night after 5:00 p.m. I think parking at the hotel was $20, which is actually not bad for a downtown Philly hotel.

I stayed one night at the Sheraton Philadelphia Downtown. My initial experience was negative, as I had been travelling for hours and upon arrival the line to check-in literally had 12 people on it. I haven't seen that long of a line for check-in for quite some time, but maybe it was a one off.
My first room was adjoining to what I can only guess was a bachelor party and was very loud. I called the front desk and someone immediately came upstairs with a key for a new room which was much quieter. The rooms are small but clean, and I had a nice view of the city.
You can walk from this hotel to great restaurants and landmarks. It's pricy but you are in central Philly so I guess that's understandable. Overall, I do recommend though.

It seems to be an old building which is poorly maintained. The rooms are smelly due to old carpets.

Restaurant service is average. Room service is exceptionally slow.

It possibly is a good transit hotel for a day stay.

Stayed at this hotel during a work conference. I also used it's banquet and meeting room facilities for a work meeting. The hotel was had a range of options and offered everything we needed. Staff was extremely accommodating. Rooms were comfortable, very clean and updated. This is a great solid hotel if the location meets your needs. I can't say anything negative about my experience there.
