We stayed one night in February. Service was excellent.Full menu breakfast upstairs on top floor came with with the room reservation. Nice restaurant and great waiting service. Hotel is beautiful and historic but could use some renovations. For being a Hyatt, I felt it was a little below standard. Ripped carpeting in hallway outside of our room and a few of the bathroom fixtures were outdated and broken. Great price and great location.

Room Tip: Ask for an open city view or you might be facing building next to you.

Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback regarding your recent visit with us. We are glad that you were able to experience the level of service that Hyatt pride's itself on and enjoy one of the best restaurants in Philadelphia. We want to inform you that our hotel has renovated 40 of our guest rooms within the last year, we will be completing the rest of the hotel, which included guest rooms, corridors, lobby and elevators at the end of this year into 2014. We understand that our property is beginning to show it's age and are taking action to improve it.

We hope that you will come visit us again very soon here in Philly.

Sincerely,
Christine Nerone

This hotel is a landmark for downtown Philly. Wanted to stay there as a special birthday getaway weekend with my daughter. I was so excited - but then, when checked in started to see the 2 sides of this hotel. One of grandeur and one of poor repair. The elevator had buttons missing, dirty carpet, etc. Our room was shabby with the desk chair falling apart, nicks and dents on furniture and overall like an old room in a 3 star hotel. When jack hammering didn't stop at 1:30am outside, the hotel staff did move us at our request. We ended up with a huge studio apartment to the inside of the hotel. The decor was ultra 'mod'. The rest of the stay was 'saved'. However, I have to say this hotel has 2 sides of it for sure. I feel that only some get to stay at the 'good' part based on what they pay.

Did a Thursday to Sunday museum symphony leisure trip in February, 2013 using two free nights from Hyatt Visa card, and registered for Gold Passport. We were treated very well. Was allowed to do an advance guaranteed upgrade to suite for $50 per night which included and added $19 x 2 breakfasts. Breakfast served elegantly on highest floor with views. Suite did not have sitting room but was extremely large room with stool seating bar. Excellent bedding, but room needed some ceiling lighting. This hotel is not walking distance to the Barnes Foundation (as is Four Seasons) or the Historical district, but cabs easily obtained ($7-9) in special rear driveway. But is walking distance to hundreds of restaurants including many of the best, theater and Orchestra. The Doubletree is the large modern alternative in this area. The spa is supposed to be one of the best anywhere but did not have time to use. Definitely a good change of pace from newly built modern hotels and would definitely return.

Room Tip: ask about free upgrades, and upgrades guaranteed for a few

Just returned from weekend in Philadelphia. Hyatt Bellevue had a great price, with large lovely rooms, courteous staff all within easy distances of things in downtown Philly. Our second stay there this year and would go back

This hotel still retains some of the charm that made it famous (actually I think it was the outbreak of Legionnaire's Disease that made it famous) but there is a problem. These folks cover the basics very well...except one, which is that they are still on that antediluvian system where either the heat or the air conditioning is on, and now (March) it's heat. That lack of AC annoying enough in the best of circumstances (hotel rooms tend to heat up on their own for some reason), but usually you can open a window. Don't even think about it here. The windows either face 14th Street, a bus route, or the atrium, which itself is heated.

So if you like it cool in your room, wait a couple of months before you visit. They did give me a fan, which blows the warm air around.

The fitness facility is excellent, which is a plus, offset by the trademark Hyatt mediocre breakfast.

Room Tip: come when they have the AC on...and do NOT overlook 14th Street

Spent 3 nights from March 7-10, first visit to Philadelphia. This hotel has a wonderful location to visit any of the major sites. Took in the Philadelphia Orchestra on Friday night, one block away, after securing great seats that afternoon. I was unaware it was even there, but there were 3 other venues on the same block to also pick events from that evening. Just great. Elevators are a little slow, but that is the only negative. We also went to the adjacent health club twice, very convenient and easy. Will return.
