“Family Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2014

I love Marriott hotels, always clean and up to date. Bedding was very comfortable and room was amazing. We stayed on the 6th floor, over looked city hall and love park. View in the evening was amazing. Centrally located within walking distance to many tourist sights. Reading Terminal Market is 1 block away, Love Park is across the street, historic district within walking distance ( with a 7 and 11 year old), tour buses close by. All kinds of restaurants in close proximity. Only downfall is outrageous parking fees. Honestly, you know people are from out of town-$50 a night to park? Overall, we loved it. (I just don't understand why they don't include breakfast like other hotels in the chain)

We stayed one night in this beautiful hotel. We got a nice, modern and large room with WiFi. AC was really good. Elevators are quick (compared to other hotels of this size) and there is a nice pool which we didn't use due to lack of time. The hotel is very well located in downtown Philly and close to Reading Terminal Market. All is in walking distance. You get your city map at the front desk in the lobby if you want. You can visit Independence Hall for free but think about making a reservation as you won't be the only one to visit this. Be careful: there are apparently 3 Courtyards. We gave our car to a valet of the wrong Marriott. This is by the way the only issue which was quite a disappointment: 40$ + 8$Tax for 1 night parking is really exaggerated!!! Nevertheless 5 stars for this hotel and a big recommendation.

$127 for one night in July 2014.
Was there for 4th July 2014, unfortunately not a lot open around the city on that day!
But I walked everywhere from the hotel which is ideally located.
I arrived by Amtrak at 30th St. station and you can easily get the MFL line across to 13th station and walk to the hotel from there in about 5 minutes.
Room clean and spacious. Would definitely stay here again and it was a reasonable price for a city centre hotel in a grand building.

We stayed at this comfortable, welcoming Courtyard Marriott while visiting the Curtis Institute of Music. We will definitely stay here again the next time we need to be in downtown Philadelphia.

The prices when we stayed were quite reasonable for such a comfortable, pleasant hotel in such a great location!

Our room was sunny and clean and cozy. The beds were super comfortable. The room had nice upgraded touches while at the same time giving us the clear sense that we were in a historic city. I'm not sure how that was accomplished, now that I think about it. It's been a year since our stay, so I can't quite piece it together. But this hotel was memorably comfortable with a great blend of new touches and old.

We were delighted with our access to public transportation! We flew into the PHL airport and took the train to 13th Street, then walked the remaining very short distance to the hotel. Did the same thing in reverse when it was time to fly back home. So easy breezy!

Each day, we walked the roughly 1 mile to the Curtis Institute of Music in the Rittenhouse Square area. We very much enjoyed the walk. We liked people watching on the way and enjoyed being in a big city again. There were plenty of restaurants and shops along the way and we ate most of our meals within about 3/4 mile of the music school.

The hotel staff were welcoming, friendly, and efficient. We were always greeted with a simple hello and a smile by each employee we passed during our stay.

The elevators in the front of the hotel were quite slow and the very small lobby was frequently crowded as large groups checked in or checked out. But we soon discovered more elevators towards the back of the hotel and used those for the remainder of our stay. Considerably faster and much less crowded!

There's a Starbucks just behind the lobby area and a lounge and bar as well. We used the lounge area to sip our coffees and regroup before and after our various appointments. The lines got kind of long at the times you might expect them to in the morning, but we beat that system by going downstairs for our coffee and breakfast snacks and bringing them back up to our room before showering and dressing for the day.

We used the workout room once or twice each day. The old, well-worn treadmills look out over the city through big, clear windows. Loved that! My jogs and walks went by quickly as I enjoyed the local scenery. The room was very small. The treadmills were quite close together. The equipment was more worn out than what I'm typically used to, particularly the treadmills, but everything worked well enough. We also used the free weights and the mats. We were surprised to find that we typically had the place to ourselves no matter what time of day we were in there. We didn't expect that for a hotel this size. (I noticed that the hotel's website now says "all new life fitness equipment with individual lcd and more." I'm not sure if it used to say that or not, so maybe everything's been upgraded since we were there.)

All in all, we felt that this hotel was an extremely good value. It was cozy and comfortable and welcoming, yes. The beds were super comfy and our room was in a really quiet location! Ideal and two of the most important things to me when evaluating a hotel (because they mean I will sleep!). But its excellent central location, its accessibility to public transportation, and its friendly staff put it in a class of its own as far as we were concerned. This was a wonderful stay and I felt really good about the pricing. It wasn't what I would call cheap, mind you. But for what we got, it was a great value!

Room Tip: We asked for a very quiet location and got one. Couldn't hear a thing outside our room!

We really liked the hotel. The property was in great shape. The room was really nice, though the coffee machine was broken. The staff were very friendly and upgraded our room at no charge. The location is excellent and walking distance to everything. The hotel is very wheelchair accessible. The Redding Terminal market nearby was a great place to grab food (note that it closes at 5 or 6pm).

The only real downside to our visit was all the homeless people in the area. It was very sad. I wish the hotel and neighboring businesses could band together to try and help these people and move them to a safer place off the streets, as the City clearly isn't.

This property has good central location. Walking distance to all the attractions in the Philly downtown.

The staff are friendly and helpful. I got a corner room which had a better view to the main streets.

Good experience and warmly recommended.

We chose this hotel for the location and it turned out to be great, close to the trolley line and walking distance to the historic sights. Parking was about a block away and reasonably priced. They also offered valet parking but it was not necessary to use it. The hotel itself is a renovated historic building, and the staff were very nice. The decor is basic, eclectic. This place is not the Ritz Carlton, it is a Marriott Courtyard, but it is on the same square as the Ritz, so you get the benefit of the location and savings on the rate. Perfect for our family stay for one night.
