“Wedding for my son”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2013

We had a room block for my son's wedding Nov. 15th, 16th & 17th. Hotel was excellent. All the rooms that we had were good. Especially the one for the bride-to-be Friday nite, where the girls for the bridal party hung out & the attached king bed room for the bride & groom for Sat. nite. Hotel was good location to the venue, Ballroom at the Ben.

We stayed in Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown while we were attending a conference at Philadelphia Convention Center. The hotel building was built since 1929 and very well-preserved. The room is clean and comfortable. The hotel is in walking distance to the convention center, Reading Terminal Market which has various kinds of food, Macy's, and other shopping arcade. The historical site is about 10-15 minutes walk. City Hall is across the street.

Good Evening Annie

Thank you for your comments and I was delighted to see you enjoyed your visit. I hope you found our location one block from the convention center convenient and that the conference was productive. We look forward to welcoming you back for another conference or a leisurely getaway in the near future.

In the area to see some friends, we spent two nights at the Courtyard Philadephia Downtown; it was a very good choice.

The hotel is well-situated, immediately on the circle surrounding city hall. This makes it a convenient starting point, but also one surrounded in a swirl of city traffic. If you can get by without a car, you'll save $40/day. We walked everywhere we went: to the Reading Terminal Market (real close), dinner on Chestnut (close), the Mutter Museum (close enough) and South Street (close enough for my fit son).

The lobby is elegant and the rooms well appointed. Electric sockets near the bedside table make it convenient to recharge your smart-device. The flat screen TV was large but we never got around to using it. We had a nice view of City Hall, pretty day and night.

House keeping was effective and the room and bathroom were kept clean. The hardware in the bathroom was a little dated. The bed was comfortably firm, but the fluffy pillow uncomfortably soft. Still, the room was quiet and we all slept well.

All-in-all, a nice launching point for a Philadelphia experience. Next time, I'll try and ditch the care.

This is certainly the most "opulent" Courtyard I've even stayed in; supposedly it is the largest one in the country. We stayed only one night but made sure to use the pool and the whirlpool which were very clean. I'm surprised that other reviewers said their rooms were dirty; ours was clean and the queen sized beds comfortable. The room had a refrigerator which was appreciated. Hotel's location was perfect, near City Hall and museums. We took Amtrak and then a cab to the hotel but I did notice that parking was expensive at $40 a night. If we have to return to Philadelphia, we would stay at this Marriott again.

Stayed here for a couple of nights during the Philly Marathon weekend. The hotel is very convenient to get to and is right downtown near City Hall. It is right next door to the Marriott and is not nearly as big or hectic a hotel. So if you want a little quieter place to stay this is a good choice. The rooms are clean and while not exactly new they are nice. The beds were comfortable and the temperature control worked fine. We enjoyed some drinks at the bar downstairs before we went out for dinner which were very good and the service excellent. Not a cheap place to stay but for a downtown location it was reasonable.

Room Tip: The rooms are pretty much the same. Get a higher floor to have a little less noise from the street

Horrible horrible horrible!!!! We frequently stay at Mariott properties, having a family member that works for the company. Our GPS had a terrible time locating the property and getting into the valet area was a huge pain. We checked our car before check in and headed out to get something to eat. When we returned a few hours later, we presented our friends and family type voucher. The woman at the front desk was extremely rude and would not accept it. She also would not return it even though she wouldn't accept it. Instead she informed us that our room would now be over triple the cost we had expected to pay! We then decided to find somewhere else to stay because the whole situation was ridiculous. We elected to leave our vehicle there as we were already being charged for the night for the few hours that morning. It took ages to get our bags from our car and valet didn't even offer to call us a cab. (We ended up staying at the Hilton Garden down the street, which was AMAZING! Fantastic customer service!) The next day getting our car back was also a huge headache. It took over a half hour to get our car. The valet man took my ticket, he didnt take anyone elses and the man who brought my car wouldnt give me my keys because i didnt have a ticket! Then we had to go pay, despite them having our car on file already....something they could have told us to do in the 30 minute....a horrible property..

Good Evening Sarah

Thank you for your feedback and I was certainly disappointed to hear of your experience. As I trust you are aware, there are very specific procedures and criteria with regard to the use of a Friends and Family Discount Form. However, you certainly should not have experienced a rude approach in how questions where asked with regard to the form. I apologize for that and will certainly review with our front office team the proper approach in matters of this nature. Warm regards,

I'm usually a big fan of Marriot and Courtyards in general. However, this one was pretty awful. I paid downtown prices but got a Motel 6 room. I was in a wedding party and was supposed to receive a gift bag upon check-in. Didn't get one, and the guy who checked me in didn't even know I was in the wedding. The room was quite outdated. The bathtub was actually rusty and disgusting. The water didn't even drain out of the tub because it was warped. I would definitely not return here and would suggest others look at one of the other hotels in the immediate vicinity.
