Why do we stay at Courtyard by Marriott hotels?
. . . Always for the same reason . . . the staff. Of course, this could be said of any Marriott property, but the Courtyard brand fits a certain level of comfort and cost that makes it our hotel of choice.
Let me list some reasons:
1. The Staff—I know I already mentioned this fact, but once again, during our recent stay at the Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown property, I witnessed first hand, the willingness of a staff member to go above and beyond to help a guest. I needed to change my reservation, but technically, the procedure was beyond my skill level, so Aziza Mansour, an Operations Supervisor, helped me manage my iPad and make the adjustments.
2. The linens—This may not be important to some guests, but if I spot stained, raggedy linens and towels, I know that care about the guest is lacking.
3. Free wi-fi—automatic. Believe me when I say that logging in at some properties is a complicated procedure. Here it happens instantly.
4. Cleanliness—is next to Godliness. In spite of its busy street-level, downtown location, the Courtyard Philadelphia carpets look spotless. Not an easy feat, particularly after multiple weekend weddings and activities.
What would I ask for if I could wave my magic wand to make the hotel better? Polish and buff the brass fixtures in the elevators. Dingy-looking. Add a separate concierge. With this downtown location, the property cries out for a first class concierge. Find the funding somewhere. The current system is inadequate.
As I have come to expect, I appreciate the fact that a guest cannot pass a Marriott employee without receiving a friendly greeting and bright smile.
Thank you, Marriott.
