While researching hotels on line I tried to find ones that had 2 queen beds. I found them at this hotel and then when I went back to book it, it only came back with double beds. I then called the hotel and inquired about this. The gentleman advised me that they do indeed have queen beds however if it says double beds they are double beds. He also said we could request 2 queens when we arrived and if they were available which he was sure there would be some by the time we checked in a few days later. I felt confident enough that I went ahead and booked 2 double beds with the confidence that we would get 2 queens. Plus the rate I got for being a Marriott Rewards member was an excellent price, by far the cheapest in the area.
When we arrived at the hotel there was a little bit of a wait to get checked in. The gentleman thanked me for being a rewards member. I then inquired about getting a room with 2 queens and was told sorry there were not any available. Sadly we retreated to our 2 double bed room. He did also inform us that there was free a concert and fireworks just down the parkway if we so decided to go and asked us if we needed any restaurant recommendations. He also let us know about the free strawberry water on the other side of the entrance doors. We never did get any as it was always out or completely gone when we went by. By the way on the last day we were there we found out there was another set of elevators at the back of the hotel that we didn't know about. This would have been nice to know as after the fireworks the lobby was packed and the elevators were slow.
The room was ok for 3 adults not overly big. They must have planned the room for us as there was 3 sets of towels for everyone. AC was already on which was a nice relief. After we returned from dinner and the fireworks about midnight we called down to the front desk to get 2 more bath towels as 3 wasn't going to do it for us. The phone rang and rang and then went to a Marriott recording. I hung up and tried again 20 minutes later, again back to the Marriott operator. I then gave up and my husband said he would ask for them in the morning. Husband went down and asked for towel in the morning and 30 minutes later they still hadn't arrived. I then called down and questioned where our towels were and she said let me check on it. Five minutes later there was a knock on our door with the towels. A refrigerator in the room but no breakfast was included with our rate.
The next morning we were getting ready to leave for the day and housekeeping was knocking on all of the doors. I thought this was rather weird, as most hotels I thought had a list of occupied rooms versus who is staying and checking out. Anyway we told her we were going for the day and she could clean our room and also requested 5 bath towels. She said ok and asked if there was anything else she could provide for us. When we came back we did have 5 towels. The next morning though.....we had intended to go eat breakfast and then come back and check our luggage with the front desk as we had a late evening flight out. Right at 9am housekeeping was knocking at our door ready to clean it. I was a little annoyed (granted we didn't have our do not disturb sign out) but I would assume they would give the customers who are checking out a little more time to get out before trying to clean their room before check out time. We told her we would be out in a half and and hour which meant that we couldn't come back from breakfast and brush our teeth and then take our bags down. My husband and I got into an argument and said forget it we will hang our sign out and she will have to come back after we are ready to check out for good.
We were too busy to even find the pool and jacuzzi. Didn't eat in the restaurant. When we went to retrieve our luggage before our flight home the bellman saw me standing in line for quite a while then offered to go get my luggage.
The are advertising they are starting renovations in October of 2013 and I really hope they upgrade to a lot more queen beds. It is really tight and makes for an uncomfortable nights sleep when two adults have to share a tiny double bed. Oh yah there was also only 1 night stand in between the 2 beds, being I had to share a bed I was on the side without a nightstand so I had no where to put my personal things.
Hotel was centrally located for sightseeing. We did everything without a car. Hotel was clean. If I stay here again it all depends if I could secure a queen room (3 travelers) and the price I could get.
