“Spacious Room, Good Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

We were here for a conference/vacation. Our room was very spacious although we found the sink area a bit tight. Also, just a hint from a mom that travels with 2 teenage girls, putting a mirror somewhere in the room other than the bathroom would be a huge help! Loved the nice fridge especially since one of our favorite places to visit, just steps away, was the Reading Terminal Market. Helped keep the cost down to be able to keep snacks in the room. The extra blankets for the sleeper sofa and on the rollaway cot need to be replaced. They are worn and not pleasing to touch. (We find this is true in many hotels!) Staff was friendly and the doormen were helpful always. My kids also enjoyed the water flavored with strawberries. Again, having the water readily available cut down on our costs quite a bit.

the location of this hotel it perfect to all of the tourist locations in philadelphia. it is within walking distance to all the historic sites. It is also in a good location for shopping and resturants. The lobby is nice but the rooms are getting a little shabby. The curtains in our room were torn and the tile in the bathroon floor was cracked. It seemed relatively clean. Not saying I wouldn't stay here again for the right price.

The price was about right. My brothers and I wanted a "guys" night out and the hotel was a good choice for us. The location is nice. Taxi cabs are lined up right outside of the hotel and it's about a $7.00 cab ride (one way) to Old City, which is a great spot for the bar scene. The room was clean. Two things were kind of annoying: 1) the toilet kept running 2) no one at the front desk asked us about our experience/stay upon checkout...I know it's not a huge big deal but I'm pretty sure every other hotel experience I've had involved a staff member asking if we had a good stay at least once. Still, there's a decent chance that I'll stay here again.

Thank you for your feedback and business. We are very fortunate to have many great reviews on TripAdvisor and we greatly appreciate you taking the time to add your experience. We are delighted to read that our hotel was a good choice for your recent visit. With that said, please accept my sincere apology for the problem with the toilet not having found and corrected prior to the room being approved for occupancy. I am also disappointed to hear that our front desk associates did not ask about your experience upon check-out. We pride ourselves in providing excellent customer service and making sure that our customers had a memorable stay with us upon departure. I have shared your feedback with the front desk team. Thank you again for staying with us. We look forward to your next visit.

Very nice hotel with great access to downtown, the reading terminal and other local attractions and shopping. The advertise free Internet with the option to upgrade to paid Internet because the free Internet sucks and kicks you off every 5-10min. Parking, especially valet is steep but consistent with the downtown rates in most cities.

Being a Marriott rewards member I stay at a lot of their facilities. This hotel for its age and location does an outstanding job of,providing a nice place to crash while in Philly and keeps you centrally located. Once u park u should be good to walk most places, just watch the valet they smoke the clutch in my manual transmission

This hotel was about 15 minutes from the heart if gay Philly, which is exactly where we wanted to be. It was clean enough, and the room was nice. But it showed some rough edges, especially in the bathroom, where I saw rust and some exposed caulking on the tub. The furnishings were fine but nothing to get excited about. The only big complaint was that it took several tries for our key card to work in our door. Each attempt took about five times.

The hotel is perfect if going to the convention center, getting a sightseeing tour bus, touring city hall, going to the theatre, etc. Lots of nearby restaurants, including the Reading Street Market. Hotel staff was VERY accommodating - NO complaints. We ate at the hotel restaurant while attending the 4-day convention - very good food, excellent service. For example, one morning there were no banannas for my oatmeal. I mentioned this to our waiter and within a few minutes, I had 2 banannas - I think someone went to the Reading Street Market or a nearby 7-11. I was impressed!!! In-room refrigerator and coffee maker were welcome amenities. Excellent fitness center, indoor pool is small and only 3' deep so we didn't use it to exercise/swim. The back elevators frequently did not read our cards - minor inconvenience but staff was sympathetic when we mentioned this. It's a lovely historic building so this was easy to forgive. No in-room safe so I used a safety deposit box behind the registration desk - again an inconvenience but easy to forgive. Water with a refreshing hint of strawberries was available in the lobby - welcome after a long convention day/sightseeing. 531 was quiet, large, decent shower head/vanity area was small but manageable. Take the $10.00 per person Lady Liberty Airport Shuttle (reservations: 215-724-8888) - a GREAT value!
Don't be concerned that the area and hotel have lots of police around - a criminal court building is across the street and many officers came in for a Starbucks in the hotel.

Room Tip: 531 was quiet
