We are visiting Philadelphia this week, and wanted some good sushi. While Morimoto down the street was a place we probably would have enjoyed very much, we were concerned that it would be a stretch with our 3 year old, and instead went to Zento after reading many favorable reviews.
We made a reservation and were seated promptly upstairs. Drink and appetizers came in a flash, and so did our sushi order. The waiter was very friendly, and was efficient, but not hovering or impersonal. The food was delicious, every bit of it. We really liked the scallop carpaccio, the Peking duck hand roll, the nigiri hirame, and the unfiltered sake, along with the rest of our order. It's a little on the higher priced side, but well worth it - sushi is served at the right temperature and in the proper portions - they don't overdo the amount of rice or fillers, and we left satisfied but not overstuffed.
My only "constructive criticism" would be for the management to change the music in the place, which was slightly loud techno, for something less dominating (quieter ambient or even more traditional asian music?) to let diners chat and enjoy their experience even more!
Overall, we enjoyed it very much, and were impressed with their ability and interest in accommodating our young child. Would definitely return!!
