“Tourists beware!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2009

We were able to squeeze into a 5pm reservation on a Saturday evening - the restaurant was solid booked the rest of the evening. Based on word of mouth, the lovely menu and the fact that the restaurant was booked solid, were were sure we were in for a treat.

The menu is fairly limited and is very simple. The mains run $20-30, fairly pricy, however everything is cooked from scratch in house. We were pleased with our menu selections - polenta with beans and roasted winter veggies and a tagliatelle with pork ragu.

However, imagine our surprise when we received our bill and were overcharged $3 for the pasta and $2 for the wine. The invoices are hand written, so we really believe that this was not an oversight....after all, we were obviously not locals and would not be returning. Very very poor. If you go here....watch your bill.

“Oyster Catcher under new owner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2008

The Oyster Catcher has been sold and new owner worked with the former owner for a year prior to transferring ownership. He is remodeling so let's wait about three months and see how this works out. It should be as good as in the past.

“Absolutely best restaurant on Whidbey Island, WA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 31, 2007

Others have written about what is the best place to eat on
Whidbey Island. Every local I spoke to said tnis was the absolute best restaurant on the island. It is hard to live up to such high praise. Well, I have to agree this is absolutely the best place I have eaten at in a long long time. It is very small so make reservations in advance. Only open Wed-Sun for dinner.
Everything including the desserts and ice cream are made by the owner/chef Susan Vanderbeek. Ate good meals at Beachfire and Gordons in Freeland, Edgecliff in Langley, La Conner Seafood and Prime Rib and all were in a lovely setting but the food at the Oystercatcher surpassed them all. Small wine list is the only detraction.
Worst meal in a long time was at Bush Point Inn.
