Even though we arrived late due to the ferry we were warmly greeted by Marty and cookies... The room was huge- a sittling area and a high King sizw bed. Had a yummy meal at a restaurant recommed by marty and toured the tiny hamlet. Breakfast was lovely as was the companionship. Great value, rooms, food and hosts.

My husband and I stayed at the Blue Goose and just loved the entire experience. Easy to check in and our room "The Liddy" was very comfortable with beautiful period furniture. Sue and Marty were so nice and accomodating. The Blue Goose is within walking distance to outstanding restaurants and shopping. The breakfast the next morning was first class and the coffee was very good. Would like to spend more time in Coupeville next time and would certainly stay at the Blue Goose. Would highly reccommend this B&B.

Our stay at the Blue Goose Inn was very pleasant from the minute we walked in the door and met Sue, until we headed back home. Sue and Marty definitely care about the comfort and quality that they provide to their guests. From the lovely period furnishings to the quiet, comfortable rooms, it is clear they want their guests to enjoy their stay.
The Mt. Baker Suite is spacious, lovely, and quiet, and the king size bed is extremely comfortable and cozy!
Breakfast was generous and delicious, served in the bright, cheerful sun room. We will definitely return to the Blue Goose Inn!

The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast was outstanding. The owners are world-class and gave great advice about what to do and see in the area. We would certainly come back in a heartbeat!

We stayed two nights in the Penn Cove Suite. A very relaxing and enjoyable getaway. Very comfortable and large room with great view of Penn Cove and the garden from the bay windows. Nice breakfasts which were different both days. Enjoyed revisiting Coupeville and Whidbey Island after several years. A favourite activity is the walk along the bluffs at Ebey's Landing (about 15 mins. from this B & B). A beautiful area.

The owners/managers were unavailable most of the time. This was a problem because the faux fireplace (the only source of heat) in our room worked only occasionally & the weather was chilly & damp. Finally on the 4th day of our visit, we were brought (begrudgingly) an electric space heater. Never an apology & no discount for lack of heat. Guest book stated that towels will be changed every other day & bed linens changed every 3 days. Never happened. Top of mattress was nearly 3 ft. above floor. King pillows filled with pointy feather ends that pricked skin. Had to hold toilet handle down during entire flush. Breakfast food was heavy & rich. Upholstered furniture in room needed new padding. Lighting, storage & blinds were good. Nice windows. TV was tiny.

Room Tip: Ask about room's heat source.

As a family run B&B we take it very seriously when one of our guests is not happy with their stay and we try to learn from our mistakes. Every guest is special to us and we want to make sure that we've done everything we can to make each guest comfortable.

Marty and I manage The Blue Goose Inn ourselves, so we do not have a formal front desk, like a chain hotel, that is staffed continuously throughout the day, however our living quarters are on the ground floor of the Kineth House adjacent to the guest areas. There is a bell on the entrance to our living area so that a guest may alert us when they need something, and one of us is generally available either in the office or somewhere nearby on the property.

The pilot lights on the fireplaces in three of our rooms must be re-lit manually when a guest accidentally turns the control knob the wrong way. It was unfortunate during this particular visit that we did need to relight this fireplace a number of times. To avoid such problems in the future we have added additional heaters in each room so that our guests may choose which type of heat they prefer.

We enjoy serving our guests a variety of breakfast selections that they might not make for themselves at home. Breakfast entrees are made from scratch, using fresh ingredients and include items such as Eggs Florentine, Blueberry French Toast, or Baked Blintz with fresh fruit topping. We do our best to accommodate all tastes, and offer special menu selections (with advance notice) for guests with dietary restrictions.

In closing, we would like to say that we regret that this guest was not happy with their stay with us. The Blue Goose Inn is a small Inn set in homes built in 1887 and 1891, with all the history and hiccups, ambiance and angst that houses built over 120 years ago encompass! We love these beautiful historic homes, and we do our best to incorporate excellence and comfort with original antiques and reminders of the past. We hope you'll join us on your next trip to our beautiful Island paradise and let us show you why The Blue Goose Inn is truly your home away from home.

Cheers,
Sue & Marty McDaniel

We stayed three nights at the Blue Goose Inn and throughly enjoyed our visit. We booked the Mt Baker Suite and marvelled at the size of our room and large adjoining bath. Sue helped us with local travel planning and cooked up a delicious breakfast every morning at 9am. Breakfast was served in the enclosed sun porch from which we could watch the birds attacking the feeders in the garden. Coupeville was the perfect getaway for a restful vacation. We were concerned at first that the Inn might be noisy, given its location on the main street leading into town, but our worries were unfounded. There really is very little traffic to speak of. Coupeville has a few nice restaurants within easy walking distance of the Inn and we were able to try out two of them; Christopher's, and the Front Street Grill. Christopher's was our favorite, with a fantastic clam chowder.
We look forward to a return visit!
