I stay in Mammoth several times a year for ski season. I generally stay at a local hotel with my wife but we were able to put together a small group for this trip.
I found this condo on a well known message board (you can do the math) and rented directly from the owner. It was considerably less than if I had booked through their reservation service.
Plusses: It was a great value for the money. The condo had two bedrooms downstairs (one queen and one room with a bunk and a single), a fold out futon on the main level, and a queen in the loft. It is a five minute walk downhill to the Gondola. There is a bus stop right at the entrance to the condo.
Neutral: The condo is heated by the wood burning fireplace. While this seems fun and romantic, it requires lots of attention and it is quite cold in the morning. It can get a little messy cleaning out the ashes so you can start a new fire.
Minuses: There are only two parking passes included. If you have a full condo, it's impossible to get everyone and the luggage and gear into two cars. If you bring a third car, you might have to get "creative" to get all your cars there. The hot tub is across the parking lot which can be some distance if you're at the far end of the complex.
I would absolutely stay there again if I got a similar rate but if paying retail, I might look for a better value.
