“Stay here for Yosemite!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

We stayed here instead of staying in Yosemite itself, as it is much better accommodation at much better value! A short drive (an hour-ish) from the Tioga Pass or Sonora Pass roads and Mammoth is a beautiful mountain retreat. It is big enough it has everything you need and still has a small town feel. The Sierra Nevada Lodge is easy to find and has free parking. The room was spacious and comfortable, clean and well maintained. Modern fresh bathroom with an amazing shower. All the team were friendly and helpful and the happy hour was also great. The main lobby and lounge is really welcoming with open fires. This place is a winner for a summer stay or ski resort in winter.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard will be quieter than those facing the car parks.

Went to Mammoth for a long weekend getaway and this was the perfect place. They picked us up at the Mammoth airport for free. The lobby is huge with a pool table, hot drinks, sunken seating area around a fireplace. From the moment you walk in, you feel like you are in a different world. Rooms were clean, entrances were kept clear of snow and there's plenty of parking! There are 3 restaurants on premise, so you can walk in the beautiful snow instead of drive. My favorite part was the outdoor hot tub. My only negative comment is that the lobby has a bar but didn't provide service to just anybody. They served only 2 groups of large parties while I was there and I was told that it's not an open bar for just everyone. This is a must for all hotel quest!

Very helpful checkin staff. Nice rooms, reception area/sofas/fire looked lovely.

Only negative comment, shelf in shower is far too high for anyone under 5' tall.

Would like to come back and spend more time in mammoth lakes.

The entrance to the resort is mildly unusual and not well marked. However, the rest of the resort is great. In the lobby is "Dukes" bar, which John Wayne frequented. The hallways have been redone with rough sawn pine wainscoat, impressive. We were in a deluxe king room, pet friendly, beautiful. Also 42" tv, a gas fired fireplace, and very comfortable pillowtop bed. Appears to be renovated from two previous rooms, with alot of rough sawn and smooth pine, a kitchenette with 2 burner cooktop, granite counter and nice undercounter fridge. the bathroom had a large tub as well as a large glass enclosed shower, and a HEATED toilet seat. We will certainly stay there again!

Room Tip: Get the King deluxe room

We had a great stay. Service, cleanliness and overall experience was all excellent. I have stayed in most of the nicest hotels in Mammoth, and to me, this is the best choice. This resort is centrally located whereas some of the others are not as close to dining and shopping. There was a nice grassy area outside my room with a playground that my daughter played at for hours. My favorite parts about the actual room was the large flat screen TV, kitchenette, toilet seat warmer ;) fireplace and the decor. The room was super nice and I would definitely recommend this lodge over others in town.

Some rooms are just "decent and clean." Sierra Nevada was that bit more luxurious we really enjoyed our room. Lovely room and bathroom. The communal areas are beautifully done as well in big ski chalet style. Big open fire, antique furniture pieces, open (free) hot drink bar, hot tub etc. Very friendly and helpful staff as well. Only minor point we found disappointing was the sauna was not on.

There is free WiFi in the rooms and lounge although the room WiFi was not working while we were there.

Good food in the attached restaurant Rafters although pricier than elsewhere in town.

We loved this sleepy little town. During the 2 days we stayed we were hiking in the Mammoth Lakes area. We had a great breakfast at "Good Life Cafe" and "The Breakfast Club." We got great take out packed lunches to eat on hike. My husband and I also visited the local cinema which looks just like an old fashioned American cinema you see in movies.

Stayed here for 2 nights so that we could trek the Half Dome in Yosemite. Arrived late, but reception staff were very friendly. The hotel is so clean and warm and was just what we needed after a long drive. Our first nights stay was perfect, no noise, cosy rooms, TV to unwind - great! We made the trip to Yosemite for our hike the next morning and we were caught in the freak snow storm there on 21st September and could not make it back through the Tioga Pass to the hotel. We were all soaking wet, driving in our underwear and after a 16 mile hike and a 5am start were very tired. We had to drive for 14 hours to get back to mammoth lakes as the roads were closed due to snow and coming from the UK we did not have chains for the hire car to try any other northern routes. So we had to go through to Bakersfield and up the 395. After arriving back at the hotel at 7am the next morning we asked reception if it would be ok to extend our checkout time so that we could get a couple of hours sleep and they were very kind and understanding about the situation, extending our time by around 3 hours - enabling us to get a much needed rest. Would definitely stay here again, it is a stunning little hotel. And with staff as friendly and helpful as that, who could ask for more. Thank you to the staff of the Sierra Nevada Resort :)

Room Tip: Our room was a deluxe double and was very comfortable with a great view of the garden and mountains.
