We stayed here one night about 2 weeks ago, passing through town on our way from Las Vegas, NV to Yosemite Nat'l Park. This area is definately a nice little ski town to stay in, even in the off-season. This hotel was nothing fancy to look at, but had a convenient location in town, close to a variety of restaurants, bars and stores. I thought that the hotel was a little overpriced for the value, but compared to other hotels in the area, it seemed to be about average... They did offer a nice continental breakfast in the morning, consisting of bagels, fruit, juice, coffee and cereal. All in all, definately sufficient. If you are passing though the area just looking for a place to crash for the night or if you are looking for a place to sleep (in town) while skiing in the area, I would definately recommend this place to you. Our room seemed pretty clean and the beds were comfortable. Having the fridge in the room was a plus too!!!

We stayed at the Quality Inn while visiting the Mammoth area for a friend's wedding. Mammoth Lakes is primarily a winter resort town, and we were scared off from many hotels in the area by reading reviews on this site. By that standard, the Quality Inn seems to be a decent value, although at about $130 it's much more expensive for what you get than hotels in other popular vacation areas. Our room was decent and clean, and the beds were lovely and firm. There was a heater in the room, as well as microwave and fridge, and the bathroom was serviceable and clean as well. HOWEVER there was no air conditioning in the room, which we didn't see mentioned on the hotel's website. It gets to the high 80's in Mammoth Lakes at that time of year, and we are from a cold climate, so this was an unpleasant surprise. The room did have a standing fan positioned by the window, so we kept the window open and the fan on, but it was still too hot in our room for me to get a good night's sleep. If you are used to sleeping in temperatures mid-70's and above, it might not be a problem for you. Otherwise, I'd suggest you stay here in the winter only, or confirm that your room has AC when booking your reservation.

There is covered parking, and the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. "Breakfast" was carb-heavy; Sara Lee "bagels" with cream cheese, sweet rolls, Nutrigrain bars, cereal and milk, apples and bananas, and jelly. No protein, not even yogurt or butter. There is a huge jacuzzi next to the front desk--it's almost the size of a pool, and I imagine it's very popular in winter months. Overall, I guess this hotel is an OK value for the area, and we don't regret our stay. We do wish there were more reliable, cheap, non-grody lodging choices in the area.

My husband and I stayed at this Quality Inn from August 7th to August 10th, 2006. Our extended family had rented a condo in Mammoth, but we found the hotel met our requirements and was much less expensive for us. We were in town for the purpose of fishing and relaxing. Got plenty of both done!

Our room was clean and quiet. I had requested a quiet room, and it was located at the back of the hotel so the street noise was no problem. Nice pine trees at our window (which opened wide). This hotel has no A/C but does have an adjustable floor fan that we placed in front of the window. There are only 2 floors in the hotel.

The beds were comfortable and the towels were nice and plentiful. The parking is underground, which we liked, and an elevator is right there along with carts for luggage, etc. The continental breakfast was just OK, but we had the coffee pot, microwave and small fridge in the room.

I had found an especially low rate for our room on the Internet, and when we checked out the desk clerk said he didn't have any such rate. I had brought along a copy of our confirmation, stood my ground, and finally he was able to honor that rate. It took about 10 minutes or so though.

I feel that overall this hotel deserves an above average rating and we would certainly stay there again.

“Recommended for skiers”

We had a great week at this hotel. It's not overly fancy but has everything you'd expect from a reasonably priced hotel. Clean, pleasant staff, covered parking with lift to all floors. Also it's well suited for nearby restaurants and shops. Complementary breakfast is limited but fine. Would recommend for keen skiers/boarders.

“Best Skiers/Boarders Hotel in Mammoth”

Sure it's not the Waldorf Astoria (though by no means is it a bad hotel), but the simple fact is this is the best hotel if you're in town first and foremost to knock yourself out on the hill.

I've done just about every kind of ski holiday I can think of, from crashing out in my board bag 10-up in a mate's 1 bedroom flat in the Alps, to full on 5 star luxury in Aspen and Vermont. But at the end of the day all I ever want is somewhere to lay my weary head. I'd quite like it if that place is nice, warm, comfortable and most importantly close to the slopes. Granted - a hot tub is a big bonus.

The Quality Inn matches those criteria to a T. It's high enough up Main Street that you can walk to the Gondola if the buses are full. It's cheap enough not to cause you to break into a cold sweat when checking out. It's clean, comfortable, relatively modern and staff were pretty friendly. And it's got good covered parking, a nice hot-tub and is next to the best pizza shop in town.

So I don't see much reason to stay anywhere else in Mammoth (and I already have). Which is why I've just booked up again for next year :-)
