“Near disaster Fixed with great service.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2013

We arrived to find our 2 bedroom apartment at the Best Western Plus in Mammoth Lakes to have the Ice machine and soft drink vending machine right against the apartment living room wall. We are very light sleepers and would have not been able to handle the noise.

Matt at the front desk was trying hard to find a place to put us where our party of 4 adults and one child could still have the kitchen and be close together.

At first it was difficult, but Matt ask if we would be willing to try a room that had recently be down for service with air conditioner problems... well.... we said we'd take a look at it.

Very nice room (#309) but it hadn't been used and was a little warm... Matt tried to get the air on and with a few adjustments the room appeared to be cooling... We went to dinner and came back and the room was cold.... Back to the front desk.... Matt came to the rescue again.

We ended up with a very nice stay and all were happy to have the room we received.

We put Matt through the ringer as we have a very emotional party member that can be very difficult if things go a little bad.

Thanks for being patient with us and if you ever stay there, ask for Matt.... He'll do what he can to make sure your stay is nice.

Room Tip: The apartments are a great value.

Hello Keith C
Thank you for your compliments to our front desk agent, Matt and our hotel. I am happy to hear that he was able to find a solution to your noise concerns. We have two 2 bedroom suites. One has queen beds and a larger kitchen and while the bedrooms are quieter, you can hear the hallway ice machine in the living room. The other has king beds, a smaller kitchen with a larger living room and jetted bathtub. They are both nice spacious suites for those wanting the more privacy of the individual bedrooms. I hope that you have a wonderful day.

I picked this hotel because it was the least expensive in town that offered air conditioning. The was was both friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean and quiet as well. Comfortable beds. The free buffet breakfast was also very good - scrambled eggs, pancakes, bacon sausage, fruit, toast, bagels, muffins, cereals, yogurt, juice and coffee. Being on the main stree was also convenient.

Hello
Thank you for your great review. There are only a few hotels in Mammoth Lakes that offer air conditioning in every room. They are also thermostat controlled so that you can have whatever air temperature that you desire. We are glad that you enjoyed our complimentary hot buffet breakfast, location, and staff. Thank you for staying with us.

Stayed during the Fourth of July holiday weekend. The perfect place to stay for all the outdoor activities. The room size is spacious enough for the four of us. The Breakfast is very good. This is our second time there and will continue to use this Best Western when we stay in the Sierras.

Driving up, it feels like a place that will be enjoyable to visit. The facilities are all in excellent shape. The buffet breakfast was good enough. The way the hotel is laid out, if you get a room on the second floor, there is an entrance at the back of the parking lot that is VERY convenient for access.
If your are going up to the ski area, you will have to drive up, but it's not too far. There also is a nice new area at the upper end of Mammoth Lakes to go hang out, even watch movies or listen to a live concert outside.

Room Tip: Try to get the 2nd floor. It has the easiest access from various points (the hotel sits on a hill...

Thank you for telling everyone about your stay with us. You are correct that the second floor provides easy access as it is actually ground floor on the fare end of the building due to the slope of the lot. Great piece of advice.

Only stayed 1 night here after Yosemite, but was very impressed. Check in was smooth and room was ready early. The room smelled like it had been recently decorated and had new carpet, it was also spacious and spotless. My son and husband used the pool and I caught up with some washing from our road trip. We ate out in Mammoth and there was plenty of places to choose from. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and a good start to the day. would recommend and stay again if in the area.

This hotel is very nice. They must of renovated it recently. The rooms are modern and the hotel smells like it's new. They have a cafe that serves complementary breakfast in the morning. The hotel is located a little off the main road behind a chevron. You can miss it if you're not watching for it carefully.

Thank you for telling everyone about your stay at this hotel. Your comment regarding how easy it is to pass us is good advice. When you are coming into town on highway 203 (Main St) keep a look out on the right as you pass the first light. When you see the Chevron station turn there as it is easier to see and we are directly next to it.

My family stayed at this hotel after spending a day in Yosemite National Park and prior to heading on to Reno. The hotel is very nice. The indoor pool and hot tub were great. The breakfast is awesome. The hotel staff is also very helpful. During the summer the rates are about 1/2 of what they are in the winter. Very comparable to many of the ski resorts in the town, but with a nice pool and free breakfast. Make sure you put exactly how many people will be staying in your room since they give you vouchers for breakfast based on your reservation.

Thank you for tell everyone about your stay at this hotel. I am always glad to hear that the staff was helpful. One area I would like to clarify and that is on rates. Rates in summer do fluctuate a bit. During the high season of July and August rates are on par with winter rates due to the high demand in town. Some hints at getting the best rates: try to travel during the week, especially Monday or Tuesday, as these tend to be the slowest days. Also book as much in advance as possible since rates go up as the hotel bookings increase.
