“Mammoth Rent by owner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2012 via mobile

We didn't book through the Hotel, so I don't know what the quality of the upkeep of the other apartments. We rented unit M113 through Mammoth Rent By Owner and the apartment is everything you would want for a weeks skiing with plenty of room and cosy. Hotel facilities seem fine and I have found the staff at the main office very polite and helpful. The hotel has a very steep entrance which gets very icy, recommend snow chains especially if you only have a 2WD (like me).

“poor room condition and horrible customer service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2012

Trust me, you dont want to spend your vocation in such poor condition rooms! If you want to get some help from the office/onsite manager, you must be day dreaming! A few things I really hate:
1. Ugly and super old furniture
2. Thousand year old TV (If you can still call that TV)
3. Unconformable bedding
4. Tiny swimming pool and hot tub.
5. Long stairs to climb on
6. Manually operated garage door
7. Bad/unfriendly customer service ( properties are individually owned. So the onsite management only has no responsibilities but handing out keys)

Room Tip: check the reviews, especially those regarding the customer service.

“Excellent value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2012

Yes, each unit is individually owned and it certainly helps to review the website and pictures, as well as description of the unit. Close to Canyon Lodge, easy walking distance. Yes it is a walk uphill, however, much easier than hassling with parking etc....and one can stop in at the Austria Hof for Happy Hour on the way home. Just walk slow up hill. Unit well maintained, wine cooler w/wine provided by the owner! Comfy bed. Clean. Nice view. Warm and cozy.

Room Tip: Ski back trail comes right back to unit. Review website and pictures, unit description. Lots of up...

“Rundown filth book elsewhere”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2011 via mobile

What a dump couch has holes everywhere blankets have holes
Tv is a small piece of junk that is 20 years old. In general this is a run down dump that rents for way too much money. Forgot to mention how lousy the beds are
Book anywhere but here unless you like filth

“Reliable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2011

My experience
My family has been staying at MSRC yearly for the last ten years (multiple times per year in the last two years). We return every year because we have been very happy with the service, the units are comfortable and the location is great.

Rooms
We have stayed in various units throughout the years. There are very large units that accommodate many people and smaller units that are great for two. When we have traveled in a large group, we get 2 to 3 rooms in order to meet all of our needs--my husband and I will get our own studio unit, adults with kids get their own unit and multiple couples get a unit with two private rooms. This approach has been a great way of traveling and spending time with loved ones while at the same time having a retreat for privacy. Although some units have recently been updated others look like they may have some of their original flooring and cabinetry. Some units have stunning views and others look out to a neighboring building. Some units have very well stocked kitchens and other are satisfactory for most types of cooking/baking. Some units have a good number of movies and games, other do not. The pictures and descriptions are very useful for finding a suitable unit for your needs/wants. Although the deluxe units that we have stayed in definitely feel a lot nicer than the regular units, there are some great regular units that have become favorites. (I am selfishly omitting our favorites)

Amenities
The pool and spas are fabulous after a day of Mammoth Mountain activities. There is a large spa that fits about 8 comfortably. There are tennis courts which we have yet to experience because of all the great things to do in and around Mammoth. Each unit comes with one assigned covered parking (garage) and one unassigned uncovered parking. There is a BBQ available at the pool.

Room Tip: Check MSRC's website for the property map. Buildings B, D, E, F and G have great views (units th...
