“Old and noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012 via mobile

The room was dated but large, clean and comfortable. Although for $400/night it should at least have had a refrigerator in the room. The bed, like everyone says, was extremely comfortable but the place is noisy. NOISY!!! The walls, ceiling and doors are paper thin. Kids running up and down the hall shake the whole room. People walking above sound like they're coming through the ceiling. A power strip for the one available plug in the room would have surely helped with charging our gadgets but was not an amenity to be had so we fought over the one plug. But, all that being said, we woke up to an incredible view of the lifts and the mountain and walked out the front door and jumped on the gondola and headed to the top! Awesome! The restaurant was expensive and lacked any kind of ambiance whatsoever but the food was good. Luckily we had a 4WD to drive into town for other dinner options. Since this was the only place in Mammoth at the last minute during the holidays, we paid the high price and it was adequate. But in the future, we will make sure to book ahead and stay in the Village, Eagle Lodge or the Westin Monarche where $200-$400 will get us at least a studio or 1 bedroom condo with kitchenette. The extra little walk to the lifts in the Village is not a deal breaker. I'm sure the Inn will be a lot cheaper after the holidays but it will still be just average, if that's what you're looking for...

The customer service at the front desk does not exist. I was standing by the front desk waiting for somebody to help me. They were to busy visiting with each other and answering the phone instead of helping a live person. The hotel is really getting run down. The only reason we stay here is it is next to the slopes. Also a bottle of water is $5.00. I took the shuttle to Vons and got a bottle of water for $0.79. What a deal

We stopped here for one night on our way through to Yosemite. It was in a lovely location, although the room was not great, The floors were incredibly wonky to the point where there was a few mm gap under one edge of the door (by the hinges) and 2" the other! (The floor was also uneven the other side of the bed, so it was definitely the floor and not the door!) Comfort wise it was OK, although it was not the best we stayed in on our trip.

Overall quite overpriced for the quality of the rooms, but I guess they can get away with it due to the location. Food in the restaurant was very nice.

Got to stay there last week just as the storm was passing. I was blessed with fresh powder. Literally you roll out of bed and you are on the lifts. The staff is wonderful, the room was spacious and well appointed. Can't wait to head back in the summer for even more fun. Covered parking came in very handy with the amount of snow the mountain received (11k above sea level). A trip to the village was just a few minutes. Shuttle service is frequent and as convenient as well.

I stayed here because it was the only option to ski in and ski out, Canyon Lodge was still not open. I stayed in a one-bedroom condo unit and the size was adequate and we got a small view of the mountain through the paper thin windows. Wall paper was peeling off the walls, the tub was in rough shape and the ceiling had many cracks in it. Interestingly, they didn't provide wash cloths and the towels were frayed and looked very old and felt rough. The bed was very nice and comfortable, but the bedroom was pretty small. The hotel staff were great, but we had a very sour waitress at the overpriced and bland hotel restaurant - Denny's would have been better. We did have a turkey sandwich and chicken sandwich at the hotel bar that was good. The Yodler was closed so we had to eat at the hotel restaurant a second time. Our building is not connected to the main building, but it's a short walk - still, it should be connected since the weather can be an issue, especially the wind. For the price, I was very disappointed and will not be back, even if it's the only ski in and ski out option in town.

Perfect place for winter time and for skiing, all in wood, with fireplace with sofas and tables to play chess... it's cute, althought we were there in October and it was completely sunny.
If you don't go in the correct season it's sad honestly... but we stayed there only for one night, for honeymoon journey.
Here you can use the gym, rent a dvd in your room, play at video games in a dedicate room, without paying anything of this.
I cannot say anything about the restaurant because we ate outside, in the nice and little city of Mammoth Lake and also the morning we went to Starbuks.

The bottom line on this property is all about skiing - if you intend ski, the property is for you; if not, there are probably better alternatives in town (approximately 4 miles down the mountain). The hotel itself is nice, but as many other travelers point out, it could use a bit of a refresh. Some of the items in the rooms are new (TVs for example are modern LCD flat screens); however, other things are in dire need of replacement (carpet, window curtains). As with many slope side properties, the common areas are much nicer than the rooms themselves.
Positives include free shuttle service to town, covered parking (based on availability), a limited selection of free movie rentals (rooms have DVD players), and free internet that is actually high speed.
Negatives are the expensive on-site restaurant and bar, and well as the nightly resort fee.
Overall, the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. My wife and I both agree that we would stay here again to ski, but would choose another property out of season.

Room Tip: If you book the least expensive room type, which is a single queen sized bed, you will not be in the...
