“An OK stop-over”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

We stopped here for one night on our way through to Yosemite. It was in a lovely location, although the room was not great, The floors were incredibly wonky to the point where there was a few mm gap under one edge of the door (by the hinges) and 2" the other! (The floor was also uneven the other side of the bed, so it was definitely the floor and not the door!) Comfort wise it was OK, although it was not the best we stayed in on our trip.

Overall quite overpriced for the quality of the rooms, but I guess they can get away with it due to the location. Food in the restaurant was very nice.

Got to stay there last week just as the storm was passing. I was blessed with fresh powder. Literally you roll out of bed and you are on the lifts. The staff is wonderful, the room was spacious and well appointed. Can't wait to head back in the summer for even more fun. Covered parking came in very handy with the amount of snow the mountain received (11k above sea level). A trip to the village was just a few minutes. Shuttle service is frequent and as convenient as well.

I stayed here because it was the only option to ski in and ski out, Canyon Lodge was still not open. I stayed in a one-bedroom condo unit and the size was adequate and we got a small view of the mountain through the paper thin windows. Wall paper was peeling off the walls, the tub was in rough shape and the ceiling had many cracks in it. Interestingly, they didn't provide wash cloths and the towels were frayed and looked very old and felt rough. The bed was very nice and comfortable, but the bedroom was pretty small. The hotel staff were great, but we had a very sour waitress at the overpriced and bland hotel restaurant - Denny's would have been better. We did have a turkey sandwich and chicken sandwich at the hotel bar that was good. The Yodler was closed so we had to eat at the hotel restaurant a second time. Our building is not connected to the main building, but it's a short walk - still, it should be connected since the weather can be an issue, especially the wind. For the price, I was very disappointed and will not be back, even if it's the only ski in and ski out option in town.

Perfect place for winter time and for skiing, all in wood, with fireplace with sofas and tables to play chess... it's cute, althought we were there in October and it was completely sunny.
If you don't go in the correct season it's sad honestly... but we stayed there only for one night, for honeymoon journey.
Here you can use the gym, rent a dvd in your room, play at video games in a dedicate room, without paying anything of this.
I cannot say anything about the restaurant because we ate outside, in the nice and little city of Mammoth Lake and also the morning we went to Starbuks.

The bottom line on this property is all about skiing - if you intend ski, the property is for you; if not, there are probably better alternatives in town (approximately 4 miles down the mountain). The hotel itself is nice, but as many other travelers point out, it could use a bit of a refresh. Some of the items in the rooms are new (TVs for example are modern LCD flat screens); however, other things are in dire need of replacement (carpet, window curtains). As with many slope side properties, the common areas are much nicer than the rooms themselves.
Positives include free shuttle service to town, covered parking (based on availability), a limited selection of free movie rentals (rooms have DVD players), and free internet that is actually high speed.
Negatives are the expensive on-site restaurant and bar, and well as the nightly resort fee.
Overall, the positives definitely outweigh the negatives. My wife and I both agree that we would stay here again to ski, but would choose another property out of season.

Room Tip: If you book the least expensive room type, which is a single queen sized bed, you will not be in the...

Even though the hotel could use a renovation, you can't beat the location. It is at the mountain top and within walking distance of ski lifts and fun activities for the family. I was there in the summer and you can ride your bike to the village where you can find lots of places to eat. You can easily access the lakes, or tours to go horseback riding or hiking.

Our group of four were traveling and needed a room for the night. We made reservations for two rooms and were surprised when we arrived that despite the cost near that of high end lodging, we had a tired room with no air conditioning. Fortunately the weather had begun to cool somewhat at night and if you left the windows open all night you could sleep. But only until you looked at those open windows and recalled the emphatic warnings to avoid the bears....
We had dinner in the upstairs bar since the restaurant was not open. The service there was as one would expect in a sparsely occupied bar - poor. We ordered the three onion soup ($8.00) which the ladies liked. The Mountain Club sandwich ($14.00) was so large it was difficult to eat. The Wedge Salad ($9.00) was not recognizable as what we Texans know as a wedge salad. The wines and mixed drinks were good. It was a fair meal, with poor service, at a high price.
There are better values for lodging in Mammoth. There are much better restaurants. If you are coming during ski season and want a ski place at the lift this might be for you. But for us "non ski bums", it was a not of good value.

Room Tip: No air conditioning.... Some rooms have a window where you can see the ski lift. Others are on the...
