When visiting the Bethlehem area recently, I was looking for a more upscale dining experience for dinner. I stumbled upon TheMINT and decided to visit it.
Upon arrival, I noticed it had ample parking which is a plus.
The interior has a hip upscale bar feel to it. That said, hardly anybody was there. Other than people at the bar, there were only 5 people at tables.
The waiter dropped by and gave me a menu that looked quite creative. I wouldn't say it was overpriced as it seems to be in line with other "gastropubs" that I've eaten at. They focus on local and top shelf ingredients so the price will be higher than usual.
While I waited on my food, the waiter brought by a bowl full of sweet potato chips that were delicious and crispy.
For an appetizer, I went for the "Funnel Cake" which consisted of Jalapeno Cheddar Beignets with sweet powered bacon and powered sugar over the top. The texture and consistency reminded me of Monte Cristo batter. It seemed as though they were missed something so I asked for a sweet contrast. The waiter obliged with a mixed berry compote which elevated the dish.
For a drink, I went for their version of a French 75. I've had better but it was tasty.
For the main course, I settled on the THEO henry which was a Carolina BBQ Chicken sandwich with slaw, bacon and sweet potato tator tots. This was DELICOUS and very smokey. I was half tempted to order the $30 Krugerand burger (foie gras burger) but decided on this. I'm glad I did.
The menu was creative enough that I would love to visit other times. I had a hard time decided on what to order (this is a good thing).
I would revisit this place again if I were in the area.
