“Stunning Geology”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2013

This beautiful hike offers many little side adventures up crevices and creek beds. A great look at the variety of rock formations in Death Valley.

“Golden Canyon and Gower Gulch Loop trails”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

The Golden Canyon hike is a very good hike. After a mile or so you have the option to continue on a trail to Zabriskie Point or Gower Gulch. This is also an interesting trail, as long as you are climbing. There are good views from above. The Gower Gulch Loop eventually becomes a separate trail that descends into a wash and loops back to the parking lot; the entire loop is 4 miles. Most people should turn back before descending into the Gower Gulch wash, because: 1) there is not much interesting to see; 2) there are not many other hikers, the terrain is uneven, the trail is not well-marked; as long as you are following a downward path that a stream would follow, you are on the right path; 3) after you have gone too far to turn back, the trail drops very steeply for about 25 feet, and at one point (for less than 10 feet) you walk on a narrow path next to a steep cliff.

“Great Park Ranger Walking Tour here”

Naomi was a fab tour guide for us - showing us all the geological features and explaining to us the effects of flash flooding in canyons like this one. Absolutely lovely place...

“We loved this canyon.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

The canyon itself was magnificent and the "amphitheatre" at the end is awe inspiring. We then hiked over the top the Zabriskie Point and this was the high point of my trip to Death Valley. The views were spectacular and the hike invigorating.

“Really lives up to it's name!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

Beautiful drive with lovely coloured rocks and little twisty roads. Well worth a drive into them just to experience all DV has to offer.
