“Great place to stay and to access area sites!”

The Palms is an updated rental that was perfect for our trip. The house allows privacy (we had 2 couples) with 2 bedrooms and a bath on one side of the dining room and the master bedroom with full bath and family room off to the other side of the kitchen. There are also pocket doors so if someone wanted to sleep in, we could simply pull the door closed.

The hot tub and heated salt-water pool are what really make this house the one to rent - they are super clean and we swam, floated or just had coffee/drinks around the pool area every day! The full fridge and recently completed outdoor bathroom are convenient and keep traffic going in & out to a minimum.

Carol and Matt were there to greet us (along with a nice gift basket containing treats, juice, area maps & pamphlets, etc.), tour us and answer any questions we had - they really made us feel welcome.

The only improvement I would suggest is sturdier chairs around the dining room table, but everything else was comfortable and clean.

We would definitely stay there again!

“Change the name to "The OASIS!" We didn't want to leave.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012 for a stay in October 2012

I don't understand the previous review at all. My husband and I stayed here the week after the other renter and didn't experience any of the things the mentioned in the other review. There are two large lights on the back patio, and the pool is lighted as well. In addition, there are solar lights that line the walkway to the hot tub, although they aren't needed because a large floodlight on the back left of the property lights up the entire back yard! The refrigerator sealed fine for us and our beer and sodas were ice cold. The hot water was reliably hot and there was plenty of it.

We found one problem after we arrived, the cd player that pipes music out to the pool area had quit working. We called and within hours Chris arrived with a brand new stereo system and we were able to enjoy our music indoors and out, all week. Thank you for the quick response time! We are parrot heads and no vacation is complete without Buffet.

Now, let me just say the description doesn't do this place justice! It is an older home, but has been thoroughly and lovingly remodeled and updated. All the furniture was comfortable and of good quality. Everything you could possibly need to enjoy your vacation was provided, including a gift basket with everything from coffee to candles inside. The home was spotlessly clean, linens were plentiful, and the kitchen was stocked with everything you could possibly need. We especially enjoyed the "den" with large flat screen TV, fireplace, comfy leather couch, and computer that's right off the swimming pool patio.

But our favorite thing was that we lived almost completely outside all week! The heated pool was the perfect temperature to spend countless hours floating around. And I especially loved that it was salt water rather than chlorine. Much easier on my hair and skin. We also spent many hours in the hot tub, which is easily adjusted to suit your temperature preference. The "romance" lighting in the tub was wonderful, and after soaking in it every evening my husband's bad back was on the mend. The outdoor gaming area didn't get as much use as we expected but we loved having it nearby for a quick round of ping-pong or pool.

We are natives to Florida and knew the home wasn't on the beach, so we didn't really expect to experience the "tropical" ambiance. And that's what surprised us so much and convinced us the name needs to be changed to "The Oasis." :) The contrast between the busy world outside and the lovely decor inside and beautifully landscaped back yard is exquisite. We really didn't spend much time anywhere else, we just enjoyed the oasis atmosphere of the home, pool, fountains, and back yard.

Did I mention privacy? That was the best! It's surrounded by tall privacy fencing, and there are no large homes overlooking the pool area like you'll find in many newer neighborhoods. So we were free to sunbathe in complete privacy and read the morning paper in our pajamas, an enjoyable bonus.

We've rented several "by owner" homes online over the years and this is our favorite so far. We'll definitely be back! Thank you so very much for sharing your lovely home with us.

Liked best: Back yard landscaping, Hot Tub, Pool, Location, location, location.
Liked least: Faded silk flowers outside, I had to tie my hands together to keep from throwing them away. Not needed! Tropical ambiance stood on its own. :)

“Absolutely not worth the problems”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012 for a stay in October 2012

This is a house with too many issues. It does not make your vacation time relaxing at all.
Although the property was cleaned on the inside, the outside was terrible. The pool was not ready for use until 5 days into our stay.
No lighting on the outside, which makes it unsafe and the only lighting in the patio, is not enough either.
The refrigerator door does not close well and made it hard to keep stuff cold.
The water was the biggest problem of all, one day was too hot, the next day there wasn't any hot water and the next day was hot for 5 minutes and then cold.
I would not recommend this at all.

We are sorry that you were unhappy with your stay. We do try to respond to any issues as soon as we are notified. The pool water was tested and treated on the day of check in. Outside the flowers were shedding and impossible to keep removed at all times. The hot/cold water issue was checked on 3 occasions We have had no complaints previously or after regarding the lighting or the water issues.
