I spent a morning walking throughout the preserve. The trails are shared by walkers, joggers, and bicyclists, but everyone seems to share the space well. I saw some kayaks on the water, too.
There are a few overlook bridges that offer a really nice view of the water. Also, throughout the paved trail are rest stops that also have signs that suggest exercises (pullups, squats, etc.). They are otiose for anyone who is remotely fit but a good reference for a casual or novice exerciser.
At times, you can hear traffic from Manatee and see some power lines, but overall the park is very peaceful.
