While staying in the area, I found this restaurant using an app on my cell phone for gluten free food. I saw 23 reviews. They mostly said the same thing. The strip mall location wasn't real pretty, but the food was awesome. I was skeptical, but I gave it a try with 5 other people who weren't gluten free. The owner waited on us and was very friendly. When I flipped over the menu which revealed the gluten free portion, I was stunned at how many of the things that I crave were available. It was like looking into the arc of the covenant, light bathed my face, angels sang (not the one on Raiders of the Lost Arc that melt your face). Ok, that's all well and good, but how does it taste, I wondered. The owner assured me that everything was made from scratch. I had been craving lasagna for a long time and was afraid I would get something equivalent to a TV dinner. The salad arrived first. It was run of the mill, but the house vinaigrette was awesome. So far, so good. Then the garlic bread arrived. It was very tasty. It came with marinara sauce. I don't like marinara but my wife said it was great. I was encouraged. Then the piece of lasagna arrived. I'm sorry. Did I say piece, more like pan. The piece was huge! Like a friggin' pan of lasagna. It was excellent. There wasn't a lot of sauce in it, which I like, since I prefer less sauce, but it really tasted like real lasagna, not something you merely put up with because your gluten-free. I was so happy. Sometimes being Celiac, you forget what it was like years ago eating real food, prepared with normal ingredients. I was very happy. So happy, I bought an extra piece to take home for leftovers, in addition to what I couldn't finish. Then my wife and I shared a piece of key lime pie, which had a nice home made graham cracker type crust that had the flavor of nutmeg. For you northerners, Key Lime pie should NOT be green. It should be a pale yellow, like the key lime itself. When it arrived it had the right color. It was a heavy pie, but tasted very good.
Bottom line is I had an excellent meal and great friendly service. I wish this place was closer so I could go again and try some of their other items. My non-gluten free friends, whom I refer to as 'normal' also had excellent meals. They all ordered pizza and beer. We were all very happy.
I read the one review on here that said it was terrible and the only way that makes sense to me is if they perhaps hired someone that was rude and didn't work out (speculation on my part). I highly recommend that person go back and try again, because we all found it to be excellent.
Awesome food, both gluten-free and 'normal.' Friendly service. Don't be scared off by the strip mall!
In the photo below, I put my hand next to it to give it some scale, but because my hand is a little closer to the camera, I inadvertently made the lasagna look smaller. Let me just say the plate was a normal size and the lasagna takes up nearly the whole plate, as you can see.
