Stayed July 2012, traveled on business

We arrived at the hotel after a long day of visiting colleges in Ohio and was second in line to check in at the hotel. We stood at the counter in front of the desk attendant for what seemed like at least a minute before he acknowledged us. He was not very friendly and did very little to welcome us to the hotel. We noticed a sign on the desk that warned hotel guests that they should not leave valuables within view in the cars. It worried me a bit though we never felt unsafe in the area and appreciated the warning. The hotel is a very nicely appointed Courtyard located across the street from some of the indoor athletic facilities of the University of Dayton. It is a 5 or so minute drive from the university itself. Lots of shopping and restaurants within a 15 minute drive. By the way, the person at check out was a lot nicer! I would definitely stay here again if (for some reason) I find myself in Dayton.

Great staff, checkin/check out a breeze, room was spotless as was all the public common areas. Grounds nicely landscaped and maintained.

This was the second Courtyard I stayed at this month that exceeded expectations! The place was packed for the Dayton Hamvention when I was there, but the desk staff was still exceptionally friendly, and I received a room on the top floor as requested. The hot tub was hot, and the pool was refreshing. The room decor was up-to-date and nice -- better than a typical hotel in this price range.

We had breakfast provided. They were making omelets and had some scrambled eggs and bacon/sausage out, but the rest of the food was pretty typical of what would have been free at other hotels. Nothing special, but convenient none the less.

My only complaint, and what makes this not a 5-star, is that the bed was somewhat uncomfortable. They had a tiny mattress pad under the sheet that kept curling up, and the pillow top mattress was kind of saggy vs. soft. I had trouble sleeping both nights I was there due to the comfort of the bed.

Then again, perhaps I'm just being picky. Next time you're in Dayton, stay here. You won't be disappointed.
