“Good Price but hotel had too many smokers for non smoking”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

This a non smoking hotel but many of its visitors were smoking outside of their room on all 3 floors. There were cigarettes in the pool area and in the pool. Pool water was cold. Parking was convenient and plentiful even with many people staying at the hotel at the time. Wifi was slow. Room was clean except for rust stains on the toilet at the base and at the bolts.

Nice quiet hotel. No parties or loud music not even on the weekends. Really just a lot of business people and travelers. Clean rooms their was no bugs or left overs from the previous guest. Convenient location it's right off the freeway exit and also close to walmart and cvs pharmacy. NO weirdos or thugs around which is a plus. The security lady is a little creepy but I guess that's the point right?

Will stay again with no problem.

PROS:
~Complimentary buffet breakfast in the lobby.
~Free parking
~Reasonably priced hotel compared to others in the area for Memorial Day weekend.
~Adequate room with everything you need like flat-screen TV, A/C, iron, coffee-maker, complimentary toiletries, a place to rest your head.
~Friendly staff.
~Quiet room.
~Great freeway access (about a minute drive).
~Gas station right next door for convenient fill-ups.
~10 min drive to the Ventura harbor and shops.
~5 min drive to 'Golf n Stuff' mini-golf.
~Short drive (10-15 mins?) to downtown Ventura (shops, restaurants and pier).
~Short drive to Oxnard, The Collection River Park Shops and Camarillo Outlet Mall.
~Good place to stay if you're visiting The Channel Islands.
~1 hour drive to Santa Barbara. 1/2 hour to Ojai.

CONS:
~Hotel room was looking a little 'tired' in places (mostly around the molding/tile in the bathroom).
~Slight musty smell in room when we arrived, but once you run the A/C for a while, you don't notice it.
~Breakfast buffet was adequate, but not for health freaks! (Standard cereals -- Fruit Loops/Cheerios/Raisin Bran/oatmeal packets -- waffles, white bread/bagles, juice, coffee, fruity yogurts, boiled eggs, fruit).
~They were a little stingy with extra towels and toiletries. Sometimes when you're on vacation you want to take a second shower during the day and want an extra towel so you don't have a wet one in the morning. (I understand this is probably how they keep costs low). I recommend you take your own shampoo as they don't replenish readily.
~One of our double beds wasn't made up when we arrived, but we only used one bed anyway. (Although we missed our Queen bed -- a double is very cozy for two!)

Overall, a convenient location, budget-priced hotel that served it's purpose for our 4 days in the Ventura area. It is what it is and you get what you pay for, but if you are the type that goes out and about and doesn't spend much time in your hotel room like us, then it is adequate.

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet, non-smoking room and got one around the back on the ground floor. (First floor...

I will never recommend to hotel to my friends, family or my business. The rooms a horrible the services sucks. I was not even going to try the breakfast in fear of getting sick. My work will never put any here again or would they recommend it to any of there clients either. I can not believe that you would even want this place with your name on it. Maybe someone from your corporate office should try and stay here and maybe they will put you in the piss smelling room to stay in. 150 is the room.

Stayed here for a wedding in the area. It was very easy to get to, and around Ventura. The elevator was tagged up and smelled of urine. The room seemed nice, then the a/c did not work... but no biggie... till the shower broke. I had to get ready in a different room (who had a fridge and microwave; apparently they are in some, but not all rooms).

Room Tip: Ask if there is a fridge and microwave.

We have stayed in this location before, but this time it was different. The staff is friendly and location is good, the exterior is also ok. But the rooms need a lot of improvement, a whole new renovation for all the rooms. We stayed in a regular room, the beds were a little lumpy, pillows were small and semi soft. The shower head would hit me on the chest, and I am not a small guy, the tub is small compared to other La Quinta Inn's we have stayed at. This location needs to be brought up to the 21st century, I didn't try the wifi but just by reading from other members, it is not the best. Noise is low but we could still here the neighbors and people walking outside, plus the running water from the pipes in the middle of the night.

Besides that there is not much to say, we stayed one night, which in my opinion was enough, and it was just, plain and simple, a regular "ok" stay. Next time I will research more hotels before choosing this one in case they still haven not gotten up to speed, with what I'm sure a lot of people want from this facility, a renovation.

If you are looking for a pet friendly hotel in Ventura, CA then La Quinta is it. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is located near shopping and restaurants. We had a room on the ground floor which was prefect with our dogs. A bit of noise from the room above, but not bad. Breakfast is nice.
