“Good food and a very lively atmosphere.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2013

This is a staple of downtown Ventura upscale nite-life. Known as a the local 40-60's age group bar scene on the week-end nites. Very good food, service is usually good but can be spotty on the week-ends when its crowded. They have some terrific dishes...a great ceasar salad, pastas are all good, and my favorite, the balsalmac chicken w/ roasted potatoes and sauteed spinach. Its a huge portion of chicken, definitely big enough for two to share. They have week-end live music and that can get loud, The high ceiling accoustics of the restaurant make for a noisy room when the place is packed & the band is playing. I wish they have just an accoustic guitar player & skip the live jazz/soft rock every now & then. The interior has a charming tuscan feel, too bad the music doesn;t match the vibe of the decor. Nice in the summer, they have a charming outdoor patio.

“Good food - no attention to service!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

I just don't get the poor services at this Fiore. This was our first visit to Ventura and every local, and the ladies at the visitors center highly recommended Fiore. We were excited to have dinner here.

We stared at the bar. To get service and drinks was challenging. Ordering food and exploring the happy hour menu - ugh - root canal.

The happy hour prices, the pizza and the drinks were all good. But after watching the hostesses with customers and seeing the servers stand at the bar chatting and eating bar snacks for 15 minutes while the restaurant had customers - sent us looking for another place to dine.

“Dissapointed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

I was looking forward to eating at Cafe Fiore. However, the experience was not what I had hoped.

Atmosphere: When we walked in there was a band playing, which created a festive atmosphere. However, it quickly became apparent that it was way too loud. I enjoy live music, but I felt as though I had to yell to speak to others at my table. By the end of the evening my throat hurt from speaking so loudly. The setting was nice otherwise, decorated for the holidays.

Food: My husband and I started with the salad special which had pumpkin and pomegranate seeds on butter lettuce. The salad was not bad, but it didn't seem to have any dressing and was heavy on the lettuce with little else. We ordered two entrees. One was the pesto pasta with chicken and sun dried tomatoes. It was way too salty, which was too bad because it would have been good otherwise. The entree we ordered was the Ahi. Again, there was nothing wrong with it, it just wasn't that good for a $23 entree.

Overall there wasn't anything wrong with our meal or experience (except the noise), it just didn't live up to the expectations. Generally the food was heavy handed and uninspiring. Perhaps we just ordered the wrong dishes, but we were disappointed!

“Fun restaurant with good food and entertainment!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

Visited this restaurant on Halloween, they had it all decorated up with a live band playing in the front of the restaurant. We had reservations and were seated at the bar overlooking the kitchen. What a fascinating experience. We were brought here by our sister and brother-in-law whom we were visiting. To start our salads were wonderful and I ordered the lamb shank which was cooked to perfection. Everyone's dishes were good, as we exchanged bites among ourselves. Our waiter, Javier, was extremely attentive. He never let our wine and water glasses get empty. Fun place to eat, request the bar if you can!
