“A nice place to stay with a few shortcomings”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

I have mixed feelings about the Country Inn in Ventura. The refrigerator in our room did not work so we were sent to another room. That room smelled of smoke and was right next to a train track and highway. If it wasn't for the droning of the air conditioner we would probably have heard more of the traffic. On the bright side, the room was large and clean. The morning breakfast was a delight. I would probably give the inn one more chance.

We spent the last 3 nights of our road trip here. I often wonder what other travellers expect for their money but we found the hotel to be clean and well maintained. The room was massive with full facilities and the staff could not have been more helpfull. The cooked breakfast was an added bonus.
This hotel is only a 5 minute walk away from the sandy beach and pier with the added bonus of a footbridge nearby so there were no busy roads to cross. There are lots of dining options within easy walking distance so once you have parked your car it can stay there for the duration.
Other people have commented on the noise but the only time we noticed it was whilst using the pool but we did have a room on the opposite side so that may have made a difference.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without a sea view. That way you will be on the opposite side of the freeway.

This hotel is not a three star hotel s claimed by priceline. Bedrooms are updated but the cleanliness is questionable. Elevator about to break. Staff ok. Just not worth the money to be close to the beach.Dissapointing

My husband and I have been haunting Ventura for years. It's a perfect weekend getaway - only one hour from our front door. The Country Inn & Suites has always been our hotel choice for several reasons. The value, the room size, the general ambience of the hotel itself and the location. We arrive at the hotel - park - and that is where our car stays until we check out. It's walking distance to everything - downtown, restaurants, shops, parks, theaters, grocery stores and yes, the beach. The complimentary hot breakfast doesn't hurt either! We've always requested a room on the Chestnut Street side and our request has always been honored. The pool and spa area are a bit cramped and noisy (close to the freeway), the elevator is a bit creaky but we find it easy to overlook these because everything else is to our liking. We've stayed at other hotels in the area but have always returned to the Country Inn.

Room Tip: Rooms on the Chestnut Street side don't have an ocean view, but they're much quieter!

This is really a nice hotel for the price. Much nicer than we expected. We stayed on a whim on our drive home from Disneyland to northern ca. The staff was really helpful and gave us tips on where to park for the beach. The continental breakfast was fantastic and the chef there was so nice and attentive. The room was spacious and clean. We loved that it had a fridge and microwave. The pool was also a nice surprise. Clean and 7ft deep at the deep end! Nice hot tub as well. I would definitely stay again if in the area.

Very run down hotel. We got"upgraded" to a wonderful room next to the train tracks and highway called the Ocean view. Very dank room and the balcony was a HUGE joke with astro turf for carpet. breakfast was cold and over cooked, should complain about bring free. Would not stay here again.
