“Very relaxing stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2011

Although we exchanged into the resort via RCI I believe that units are available to rent as it is a "floating weeks" resort. Previous reviews have very accurately described the amenities so I will not repeat them. For an older resort (built in 1984) it was very well maintained and equipped with new appliances. However I would add that unfortunately the separate shower in our unit was not in good condition - a lot of soap build up on the shower door and tap and a little mold on the tile. When I mentioned this to the office staff they said that the unit was never empty long enough to re-do the shower. This did not detract from our overall enjoyment however and the studio was large enough to entertain a daughter and her family who live close by to dinner in the unit several nights. I think the staff did a good job although the office was closed for lunch just when we needed to check in .... so time your arrival accordingly.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2011

We stayed here for a week starting on July 2, 2011. We LOVED it. When I said they thought of everything, I meant it. You could borrow bikes, beach chairs, umbrellas, pool noodles, etc, Free of charge. They had a wine and cheese night for free which was very nice. Icecream sundae's one afternoon that only cost a dollar. The grounds were beautiful. Some plants I've never even seen before. Lots of shade. We loved walking around the grounds and looking for the seals in the harbor. It had grills, ping pong, pool and a covered hot tub. The bathroom in our room was huge with a seperate tub and shower, make up counter, double sinks and a huge closet with a safe in it. Our room had a nice kitchen, stovetop, no oven but did have a toaster oven to use and of course the outdoor grills, diswasher, small fridge/freezer combo, sink, lots of counter and cabinet space. It had a nice Queen size bed, a sleeper sofa, dining table, chairs, tv, and fireplace The only thing I found odd besides the bathroom being a seperate room the rest was just one big room so not much privacy for mom and dad. We had a sliding glass door that led to our nice patio with table and chairs which we used for every meal. Beware there is no air conditioning but it doesn't need it. It only gets to about 75 throughout the day and cools down consderably at night so your ok with just the nice breeze off the water and a fan they provide. The condo is located in a quaint little town. Not really walking distance to anything but a short bike ride or car ride away is the beach, shopping, restaurants, veggie and fruit stands. The bike paths around Ventura make biking easy and fun. Our only complaint was it was a little noisy. Holiday week and lots of noisy kids running around, slamming doors, and slamming the gate to the pool. Other than that, this place is perfect and keep in mind this is not the places fault just our bad luck.

We stayed here for a week before Christmas. Beautiful location on the Ventura Harbor and close but not too close to the freeway and shopping. Not within walking distance of restaurants or shops. Very clean and quiet. Excellent value, we would definitely stay here again. Wireless internet connect was very spotty.

We decided to stay close to home and visit the Ventura area, combining business and vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Harbortown. Free movies, free wine and cheese nights and pleasant guest services staff were the highlights of our stay. Our stay was in a studio, but it is so much roomier than most studios we've encountered in our 25 years of timeshare travels. The beds were very comfy and the quiet was soooo nice even if we had our patio door open all night. We visited Ojai-- what a treat! You must never skip going there if you are in the Ventura area. We shopped the many many thrift shops downtown Ventura, had happy hour drinks and a great Thai meal too. We drove up to Paso Robles, about 2.5 hrs and back. So beautiful through the Padre Natl Forest. There was so much going on, but we wanted to just take it slow. We walked on the beach and visited the Ventura Pier one day. Andria's fish restaurant was busy and for good reason: the food is excellent!

I exchanged via RCI, and though it is the smallest and oldest resort I've ever been to, I liked many things.
1. Location. You are just minutes aways from Ojai, Santa Barbara and about 40 minutes from LA.
2. Surroundings. The resort has beautiful vegetation, it feels as if I am in Hawaii, well manicured lawns, tropical plants.
3. Ocean right at your door.

The things I wasn't too impressed:
1. The staff is less than friendly (at least a bleached blond in her late 50th at the front desk was simply rude, gilrs in the library/computer room were much nicer).
2. There is really no such thing as a "service" that you would expect to have in a resort. There is no consiergie, or anyone is on premises after hours.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2010

My husband and I spent a week here in April 2010. It is the smallest timeshare I have traded for with I.I., but nice. The rooms were outdated but had new carpet and a new comfortable (yet firm) couch that becomes a bed if needed. We had a studio with ocean view. Parking was no problem. The outdoor pool is heated and we had no problem finding chairs. The pool area is located in-between the buildings which blocks wind and keeps it warmer. The resort has free movie (DVD and VHS) rental, bike rental, and BBQ grills for use. Staff were somewhat bossy about giving pool towels but did not deny me any.

We bought wonderful produce from the many Farmers Markets. Yum! The downtown area was fun and full of things to check out. The nearby marina had great restaurants and shops.
Although it was too cold to spend time at the beach it is located nearby.

The rooms were decorated in an outdated style, but clean and well equipt. The bathroom is huge and closet even had a laundry basket. The small kitchen in the studio had everything we needed to cook meals. I took the toaster-oven onto our large patio and broiled meat several times. The large patio has furniture on it and glass walls to view the ocean.

People staying at the resort were friendly. We went to the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library which was nearby and interesting. We also drove into LA one night for a pre-season Dodgers game. The area is nice and the resort is quiet. I would definitely go back.

Older, but clean. Free internet, free bicycle rentals, free movie rentals. Saw some dolphins and a sea lion right outside the room.
