“Awesome Food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

We wanted to get some good Japanese food and this place was recommended to us. We liked it a lot. We weren't interested in the "Hibachi" experience, we just wanted some good food. The cook was entertaining and friendly. It was a nice evening. The food was amazing. We both liked the steak, chicken, and rice. It is a little pricey but you get a ton of food so it is worth it.
(tip: ask for the yum yum sauce. you have to ask for it because they don't give it to you)

“Perfect for a lite lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

Fast service, affordable, consistent quality is what makes so many return again and again. It's also worth the trip for a dinner!

“Still good food, though slipped a bit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2012

We have had extraordinary sashimi at Koze before, and tried again recently. The Teppan BBQ tables are not our thing, so the remaining dining area is rather small; we don't go for the ambience. Our server, Ian, was very friendly and attentive, knowledgeable about the menu items, and we were very satisfied with his performance, including his sake recommendation. The OMG with softshell crab and tuna two ways is still stellar, and the Hot Mama with calamari and fried green onions very tasty. Stuffed chips were good, but the wontons could have been a little more crisp. The big disappointment were the short ribs - normally meaty and relatively lean, the latest serving was mostly bone with a lot of untrimmed fat. We also wish the prices were a little more reasonable. Still one of the best places for sushi/sashimi in El Paso.

“A Mix of Very Good and Very Strange”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2012

My spouse and a sushi-loving friend come here almost weekly, and many acquaintances would agree this is one of the very best sushi places in the city. We ate here with other friends recently, and all agreed that the seaweed salad was delicious. But I ordered tempura, which arrived as a squashed-together, and rather greasy, mess of shrimp and vegetables, including jalapeños (which ruined it for me). I've tried to join the sushi-eaters in the past and not found something satisfactory. I imagine the steaks might be quite good - the smell is certainly enticing - but I'm not a steak eater at lunch.

Go here, eat sushi and sashimi, but advised about the tempura!
