“Enjoyed Stay but Room Could Benefit From Some TLC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2013

This property in downtown Little Rock was better than we anticipated. If you have a car it's self-parking in the below ground garage - no charge if you get your ticket validated at the front desk before you leave.

The lobby is inviting and spacious and immediately we were greeted by the engaging front desk staff that offered us water and cookies. They not only honored my top floor, concierge level room preference but gave us a quiet, end of the hall corner room with a balcony overlooking downtown - thank you. The room was one of the largest we've had at any Hilton property and was unusually appointed with decorative wallpaper in the bathroom and living area. The negatives, however, were with the room's housekeeping & maintenance. For example, the balcony and picture window looking out on to the balcony and downtown skyline was very dirty and appeared it hadn't been cleaned in quite some time, several wallpaper seams were in need of repair, the bathroom had no exhaust fan, there was no refrigerator and you had to literally run the water 15+ minutes to get hot water up to the 14th floor. This was disappointing considering the 5 star potential of a room with such a great location and overall look and feel.

We did eat dinner at the bar (restaurant was closed so they were serving dinner at the bar) and had one of the best meals we had on our entire trip. We did not take advantage of any other hotel services including the concierge floor amenities - free evening mgr. reception and breakfast in the morning - but the breakfast looked great as we stopped by for coffee. Next time we'll have to try it.

Overall, a very nice property that I would not hesitate to book again especially if they put more attention on the condition of the room.

I got the impression that everyone working at the Doubletree Hotel wanted to make sure that we had a great experience there. That's a good place to start. Furnishings in the rooms, lobby, fitness center and meeting rooms were excellent. The room was tastefully decorated, but I wish there had been a mini-refrigerator. There were very nice touches in the room, such as a granite-lined shower/bath. The bed was very comfortable, noticeably so. The restaurant was very nice, and when my wife had to wait an hour after checking out, they made her feel welcome to stay in the restaurant, even after they closed in mid-afternoon to prepare for supper. That is just old-fashioned good service.

Room Tip: If you are a Hilton Honors member, ask for the Concierge level, 14th floor.

Very nice downtown hotel with an excellent view of the river. We were only passing through Little Rock but plan to go back and check out the city now just to stay at DoubleTree again. Clean room, great location.

The BEST family reunion ever!! Food was outstandingly prepared. Exceeded my expectations each time. Everyone complimented the meals that were served. Any other issues were promptly handled and corrected. Might consider adding a sink on the dining room side and a full fridge in the Presidential Suite. The storage space is plentiful but I would have settled for a full size fridge for our family reunion. As far as value for the money, DoubleTree by Hilton, Ms Velva and Ms Peggy and Victor can not be beat. They always work on behalf of the customer and I appreciate the many years I and my sister have done business with the DoubleTree by Hilton in Little Rock. LaShundra was a jewel. Ms Velva French is a "godsend" for your establishment. She loves her job, her company and the customers.

I'll get the bad out of the way immediately. When we came to check in our booked executive floor room wasn't available. This was disappointing particularly as it had been booked for months. It is just the thought that we have been pushed aside for a corporate booking or a pushy points member. The receptionist reduced our rate substantially and still gave us access to the executive lounge. All in all a satisfactory outcome which didn't affect my rating of the hotel.

The hotel is in a great location in downtown just a couple of minutes walk from all the bars and restaurants. If you want go further afield there is a convenient shuttle bus. Car parking needs to be paid for but this isn't uncommon for a downtown location and is only 9 dollars a night. Service from the staff throughout the hotel is excellent with a polite greeting always on hand.

Whilst the hotel is an older property it is well maintained and comfortable. Our room was spacious and bigger than standard rooms. There was a great view of the downtown area. There is free wi fi throughout the hotel. The communal areas look updated and very well maintained.

We had breakfast in the executive lounge everyday which has a buffet. There are a couple of hot items and all the usual cereals, muffins, juices, coffee etc. Service in the lounge is great.

We used the hotel bar quite often. It serves a nightly food and drink special which is very good value. In any event the food and drink is well priced and very good quality. The staff, Cheryl, Jamie and Tom were excellent and really helpful. We used the shuttle bus to go to Doe's Place which is a great place for steak and service.

The pool area is really good and well maintained. If anything it could do with more than two sun beds. The pool is large and very deep. There is also an outdoor deck.

Overall I think this hotel is great and well worth using if visiting downtown Little Rock. It is children friendly and close to all downtown facilities.

Room Tip: We had a 10th floor room with a city view.

I was in town for a college graduation. I had driven in from Dallas after having worked all day. It even started storming while I was on the road. I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. It took less than 5 minutes to check in, park, and make it up to my room. I just wish I would have arrived earlier so that I could have enjoyed the expereince longer.

DoubleTree Hotel in Little Rock is not a place to stay if you are a single woman traveling alone. The hotel room was disgusting. The hotel room was so dirty that I asked to move to a new room. The bed skirt was dirty, the floor was dirty, hair inside the bed, and scary dark parking lot. This room was cleaner but still not worthy of being a key hotel downtown.
