“Went there for my wife's birthday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

This is the priciest of restaurants, but you will eat delicious things that you may never find on another menu - experience value is way high when eating here - and while you may be on a budget, the staff will treat you like a king for the night.

First Class breakfast in a comfortable historic hotel. Local products served southern style with friendly welcoming service.

“A bygone age”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2012

I felt really as if I was in a time warp here, as the restaurant could have been unchanged for a century or more, and was very formal and somewhat cold in ambience. Asking a customer "would the gentleman like butter" is polite to the extreme, but as a senior, I felt somewhat patronised.

After saying that, we were there having a three course fixed price menu, which turned out to have two distinct tiers. The vast majority of what we were offered was excellent and so well presented, with lovely little touches between courses. The lower tier appeared to relate to anything coming from a baking background, starting with the bread, and finishing with the desert. All of these seemed well below the standard they otherwise delivered. Whilst not a large part of the meal, it did lower our enjoyment overall. Perhaps that chef was away that night!

“Linens and a slow breakfast....buckwheat pancakes!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

I have eaten here while staying at the Capitol and breakfast is such a white glove and hat affair. It is always the way I feel when seated for breakfast....like I should definitely have on my Sunday best. Of course you can be casual but most of the clientele are well-heeled business travelers or vacationers.
All of the breakfast choices are fantastic....especially the homemade jams, buckwheat pancakes served with really weekends and warm apples. There sausages are homemade and all of the choices a served graciously.
Ashley's evening meals are just as special. One of the best choices in town for a return to Southern Old World Charm and grace.

“Nice breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Absolutely beautiful room. Very classy. Breakfast menu had some odd things on it, but the food was good. I ate there twice. The first day, the service was great. The second day they were much busier, and the service was slow. On the expensive side.
