“Great place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2012

The food is always great at Cafe 42. It's a bit pricey, but you're assured good service, good food, and a great environment. It has a beautiful view of the river.

“Good but not great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2012

We were surprised to find a white tablecloth restaurant at the Clinton Library. Lovely dining room with view of river. Outdoor seating is available.

Good variety of selections on the menu. However, we were a bit disappointed - the club sandwich came on one slice of toasted bread, the other slice was not toasted. The soup was served with an individually wrapped cracker which was only brought upon request. A request for a dinner roll to accompany a pasta dish was met with 2 slices of toasted bread. The menu says that all sandwiches are accompanied by house-made potato chips - one of our sandwiches was served with the overly salted & herbed crumbles of chips.

“A pleasant surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2012

My husband and I did not plan to eat here, but we spent more time at the Clinton Library than we anticipated, so when lunchtime rolled around and we still weren't finished with the exhibits, we decided to try the restaurant on site. The menu was more sophisticated than we had expected - this is definitely not cafeteria food! Items come with your choice of soup, salad, fries or house-made chips, which is nice. I had one of the specials, an organic bacon cheeseburger on house-made brioche, which was quite tasty. My husband enjoyed his grilled chicken lo mein. Other items looked intriguing, like tandoori chicken sliders. The prices were reasonable, and service was pleasant.

“Wonderful Sunday Brunch at Clinton Library Cafe 42”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 7, 2011

Have not dined here in a long while. Head chef Steve Burrow has really outdone himself for the Sunday Brunch.
Fusion Sushi, Fresh Figs stuffed with duck breast, a salad station, desert station and omelet station were great. There were breakfast meats and an awesome red potato, andouille sausage with pearl onions plus sausage gravy and biscuits. Wait there was more!!
A FISH station. Choices were Mahi Mahi, Orange Roughy, Salmon and Sugarcane Shrimp from Hawaii. DH had the shrimp with grits. I had a bit of the rib eye roast. Several diners had the osso bucco. Something for everyone and it all was very good.
