“Older but well maintained”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2009

We stopped here for just one night on our trip from California to Colorado. The place is on the Main Street and quite easy to find. The check-in was fast and the staff at the front desk seemed polite. The halls and furniture showed some wear and tear, but other than that, the room was clean and felt very comfortable. Even my wife commented that she slept well, which for her is rarely the case in hotel beds. They had several access points for internet access and the speed was good (1348/975 kbps). If I need a hotel in Cedar City again and they still have good deals, I will be happy to return.

Great location to see what the city has to offer and a short trip to ski at Brianhead. Breakfast is continental and good for a light start to your day (waffles, cereal, toast/muffins, juice/coffee).The staff was freindly and helpful when we needed them. They really should have more than one person on staff at a time... when there was a reason for them to assist someone in a room the front desk was left unattended and I had to wait 10 minutes till someone returned to help me. As it was very cold and icy I would recommend someone make an effort to clear the walkways of snow and ice as pushing a luggage cart into the hotel or down the covered walkway was nearly impossible. Wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom and the tub didn't drain for 15 minutes after taking a shower, making it a bit difficult for the next person unless they wanted to stand in a pool of old shower water. The bed and pillows were made of stone and if you don't like a hard bed it makes for a very uncomfortable night sleep. As the location and employees are good I probably couldn't recommend this hotel and should have spent a few more bucks to stay down the road...

Rude manager!!!!! We arrived to our room at about 1:30am. The room was freezing cold. It took awhile to figure out how to turn on the heat, with the help of a pocket knife we got the control panel open. A picture had fallen off the wall which someone had picked up and set upright on the floor, the carpet had not been vacumed. The next morning we found out the TV did not work and the shower smelled mildewy. We went to check out and I let the desk clerk know of the problems and asked to have our room discounted. He informed me that he was not the manager and could not give me a discount, he handed me the manager's card and said I could call on Monday. No apology.
Monday I called and spoke to Stephen, the manager. What a mistake! He told me that his desk clerk had talked to him about me and that I was loud, rude and demanded a free night! Why would I want to spend another night there? Stephen was so loud on the phone my co-workers could hear him. He kept saying I should have called at 1:30 in the morning and complained then, not the next morning. I tried to explain how tired we were but he continued to be obnoxious. I finally hung up after tired of being chewed out.

  • Liked — bed was ok
  • Disliked — floor dirty, bathroom smelly, over the top rude manager

We are from Victoria, Canada and we took a driving trip down to Utah to do some hiking in the Canyons. We chose to stay in Cedar City because of it's close proximity to Zion and Bryce Canyons.
We just drove into town and picked out a hotel and thought we would try it for a night - we liked it so much we ended up staying four nights - using it as our home base for our hiking excursions.
The staff was wonderful! Very friendly and helpful in giving us directions to get to the parks - greeting us as we came in and out every day.
The rooms were very clean and spacious and nice linens on the beds and a newspaper at the door every morning and also a full breakfast. Thank you for a quiet and relaxing stay at the Stratford.

  • Liked — Helpful, friendly staff and because it was after Labour Day we had the place almost to ourselves.
  • Disliked — nothing

This was without a doubt one of the best hotel stays we've ever enjoyed!! The service was excellent -- both before and after arrival. The purpose of our trip was to attend the Shakespeare Festival -- and the hotel was within easy walking distance! Everything was great -- lovely decor throughout the hotel -- very comfortable beds -- fridge and microwave in our room -- beautiful pool -- and even a coin-operated washer and dryer downstairs!! The only improvement they might consider making is covered parking or a few shade trees for the parking area. The weather was rather warm during our stay -- certainly not within the hotel's control -- but then they do have a lovely pool to cool off in!! We loved our stay at the Stratford Court and have already recommended it to other friends and family!

  • Liked — Proximity to the Shakespeare Festival and SUU + cleanliness
  • Disliked — No cover or shade for parking the car

We have stayed at Stratford many times beacause of its proximity to the Shakespeare Festival site. We feel extremely comfortable there. This year the hotel has added a complimentary hot breakfast to its offering. The comfort of the hotel and the convenience of the breakfast makes the Stratford Court an excellent place to stay in Cedar City.

This was a nice hotel with spacious rooms, a helpful staff, and a sizeable breakfast. Too many hotels offer a "continental" breakfast with a few rolls. Here, there was all you could eat of bacon, eggs, waffles and more. The guest passes to a very nice, newer fitness center nearby just added to the experience. In all, a great value, at a well kept hotel in a pretty little town on the edge of Red Rock country.
