“Disgusting experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

Arrived late at night. The front desk was very cordial. As we walked to our room, all of the hallways were filthy. They hadn't been vacuumed in days.
As we got to our room and pulled back the covers..hair everywhere. Leg hair, pubic hair, and enough to know not only hadn't they changed the sheets before we got there, but no single night stay leaves that much hair...
As we waited for "clean sheets" we went 8 doors down to my daughter and son-in- law's room... Same thing, hair everywhere! My son in law shone a flashlight across the bed and he about puked!
Front desk girl was helpful in finding us another hotel in town (name brand chain).
The manager I called the next day seemed genuinley upset about it.
So if you go, just ask if they fired the maid that wasn't changing the sheets. If they say yes, it's an older hotel with a clean bed. If they act like they don't know what you are talking about.... The manager probably didn't have the guts to fire his little sister who his mom made him hire... Or whoever it was... Have fun

I booked this hotel through Hotels.com and the Stratford staff charged me twice for the room and couldn't find paperwork confirming any charge. I was told me they would credit my account days later and it has been days with no confirmation.

Room was rundown, breakfast had very few working items. Wifi was not working the day we stayed. We will not be back mostly because of the customer service with our charges.

The mediocre reviews on this hotel are correct--we have stayed here many times because we love being able to walk the the Shakespearean Festival--the photos of the rooms are not accurate and this is NO two OR three star hotel. The rooms are run down and dingy, things are missing or broken, the hallways are very noisy, and the breakfast room is tiny and poorly stocked. Fortunately the rooms we have stayed in have generally been clean.

This used to be a very pleasant place to stay, now it is just tolerable. The two Best Westerns nearby are very similar--run down and depending on their location to keep business going.
It is probably a better value to stay at the Marriott to the south, drive to this part of town and walk to the Festival--the management of this hotel does not appear to value customers.

Room Tip: Getting a nice room in this hotel would be luck, not selection.

It's not the Ritz... but then you can't stay there for $65. a night. I stayed two nights and asked for a room overlooking the pool and was able to get one... The room was clean, and the personal were friendly and nice (like everyone in Cedar City.) The walk to the Theater's is so short.... (5 min walk) and that's a real pleasure. Now for the critical stuff... Breakfast was half a disaster... it's from 7:30 to 9am if I remember correctly, and they ran out of so much by 8:15... although the staff was able to resupply some of it the rest was just out... like bagels and sugar for the coffee... never did have sugar... either day, and as one guest put it "there's no grown-up cereal." The pool could really use a new finish... the sparkle appears to have gone long ago... but the spa was hot and I enjoyed it... overall, it's clean and close and a good price, if price counts, I would recommend the Stratford Court Hotel at Cedar City.

Room Tip: I think the best view is a pool view...

The price makes this hotel a great find! The staff is very helpful and they know a lot about the Iron County area. It is walking distance to downtown and just a few minutes to the Utah Shakespearean Plays. If your looking for a great price and a great location ... then this is the place to stay in Cedar City!

Room Tip: If you do not like to drive... this hotel is walking distance to many locations.

My 30 friends and I wanted to go the the Shakespeare Festival, but all wanted to be in the same hotel, affordable, 2 double beds, walking distance to festival, breakfast and a pool. The Stratford Court had all of those requirements! The staff was easy to work with and I even emailed a copy of our "roommate" list and they made it so easy to check in and out. The hotel is located next to the festival and is on main street for easy access to restaurants. If we go again next year we will stay at the Stratford Court!
