My wife and I stayed one night at the Abbey Inn in Cedar City UT on 5/11/13. The first room we got was not acceptable. Evidently, someone had smoked in the room before. The room was designated as a non smoking room. We called the front desk and the clerk came down and smelled the odor. She immediately gave us another room. She apologized and corrected the situation. Our new room was comfortable and quite nice. Breakfast the next morning was very good. The staff that served the breakfast was polite and accommodating. I realize that due to a non caring former guest, the hotel did not give a good first impression, but the immediate correction of the problem and no problems after that made the stay pleasant. Thank you to the staff for their immediate action to correct the problem. I would stay there again.
If you get a room on the second floor, the hotel does have an elevator.

Thank you for staying with the Abbey Inn and for sharing your experience. We are very sorry that the first impression was lacking but pleased to know that our staff resolved those concerns. It is very frustrating when a previous occupant smokes in a non-smoking room. In those situations, our housekeepers work very hard to remove any residual odor but sometimes it can linger. Thank you for your patience while we worked to correct the situation. We are delighted that you enjoyed the rest of your stay.
