“Great location, classic hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Classic NYC hotel with great location. The proximity to Grand Central was why I picked the hotel. It is close to Times Square as well. This is an older classic hotel that is well maintained. Staff was very good and very attentive. If you can get a competitive rate I would definitely recommend.

Room Tip: Look for deals online but if prices are comparable to other hotels in the area book this one

We stayed here for a week in april/May 2015. Good beds, for NY pretty "Large" hotelroom, with 2 queen beds and decent bathroom and in the surroundings enough places to have breakfast. We recommand Blake & Todds. But also organic braeakfastshop and Dunkin' Donut in same Street. And a Starbucks.
Nice place to get everywhere in NY. Grand Central 1 block away. Metro/Subwaycard costs $ 31 for 7 days and system works Great. Also busdrives for free. Tip: in GC take exit MetlifeBuilding go to the right and first Street left and the hotel is there (4 minutes walk).
We only slept here, because breakfast was very expensive and enough places to eat in the neighbourhood. Same for lunch and dinner.
Negative hotel: elevators slow and when it's very busy in the hotel sometimes long waiting before you can get it and elevator stops at every Floor. Also windows couldn't open and airco had trouble cooling it, later on it was better.
Do's: Central Park by bike and strolling on Sunday, Top of the Rock (Great view of NY incl Central Park)-a 2 times ticket (day and night) for 1,5 price, Ground Zero (impressive), Ferry to Staten Island (you sail near statue of liberty)-stand on back of the boat where the fences are being closed, Chinatown, Little Italy (eating), Union Park, walk on Brooklyn bridge, Bryant Park (games compartiment!), Times Square, shopping, shopping... And visit a free surprising museum: Indian American Museum near Battery Park.
Disappointing: HighLine (start in stouthern point is nice, but gets boring after a while; at that point: stop and and do something else) and Brooklyn Heights.
And a lot of things more to do, I am sure I'm forgetting things to mention. See it for yourself, go there!

The check in desk staff were not very friendly or welcoming! The rooms are tired and small but very comfortable beds!! The breakfast was lovely and the staff in the dining room were much nicer! The elevators were a nightmare and kept breaking down! We walked more than once from the 16th floor! However the location is fantastic and the lobby and bar is beautiful! You arent in the room much on a New York trip so it was actually a good place to be!

Room Tip: High up away from the traffic noise and away from the elevators!

We stayed May 2-4.
Nice location, one block form 5th avenue, and Grand Central, a few blocks from Time Square.
The bed was comfortable but the room was very noisy (street traffic), no coffee machine. Small old bathroom, bathtub with chipped enamel, no place to put your toilet case.
VERY slow elevators. I am glad we were at the 6th floor because we took the stairs most of the time.
The staff could learn how to smile and be a little bit more friendly.

Good location that is easy to get to from Grand Central Station. The entrance is grand but the rest of the hotel and rooms do not live up to this entrance. Our room was on the 18th floor and each time we had to wait for than 10 minutes for the elevators. When they did come, there was no guarantee they would work! The room itself was small but adequate if you are using the hotel as a base only. Having said that, it was clean and the bed was comfortable. I would give the hotel 3* not 4 but then again at £90 per night, I cannot argue with the location.

Room Tip: We thought a high floor would be quiet but had to compromise this with waiting an age for the elevat...

I took my family - hubby and 3 teenagers - to stay a week at this hotel! We had a lovely stay, and cannot fault it!! Rooms were clean, staff were friendly and helpful and location is fab!! We had 2 rooms, with 2 double beds in each. We didn't eat at the hotel, but enjoyed coffee in the morning sitting in the lobby!!

This hotel has a beautiful lobby and lots of character in general! It is located conveniently close to Grand Central Terminal and in a good location for some of the major tourist attractions and shopping. The staff, especially for breakfast in the Roosevelt Grill went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed! The room we stayed in was a decent size and overall clean, but a little dated (the washroom could use an upgrade). My only complaints were the elevators and noise. The elevators were extremely slow... and the walls in our room were very thin and we could hear everything our neighbours were doing. Overall a good stay but be aware that this is an old hotel and therefore has some kinks.
