The Hotel Giraffe is my great discovery of the sumer. Everything about it is wonderful: the warm welcome at the front desk; the bottle of wine and chocolates brought to my room after I arrived; the elegantly appointed room with its Juliet balcony; the complimentary breakfast in the comfortable lobby; free internet access and passes to a nearby gym. I also ate dinner one night at the hotel's restaurant, Bread and Tulips, which was superb. With the special end-of-summer rate it was more than good value--it was exceptional, especially in New York, And the service is outstanding. The last day, after I'd already checked out and was returning to collect my bags, I brought some visiting friends back with me to enjoy the calm of the lobby and a free cup of tea, and was welcomed just as graciously as when I'd been a paying guest. The location is great, too--two short blocks from the subway, a stone's throw from Madison Square Park, the Flatiron Building, Eataly, and several of the best restaurants in the city. I hated to leave and can't wait to go back!
