“Spacious and quiet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2011

We shared a suite in the Giraffe for 5 nights with our daughters (14 & 16 years old). We enjoyed the large sittingroom with sleeper sofa and seperate bedroom, all very clean and comfortable. The hotel is convieniently located to explore Manhattan (near the very lovely Madison Square Park) and the reception was very helpfull in finding tickets etc. The breakfast is great, with fresh fruits and croissants and a lot more to chose from and a selection of newspapers.

“Great hotel and very friendly staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2011

I stayed at the Hotel Giraffe for a total of 4 nights. I actually came here for my honeymoon, along with a cruise from New York. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful to my wife and I, and the hotel itself was very nice. They don't have their own gym but provide you with a free pass to a really nice one just a few blocks away. The complimentary breakfast was good, and they also have free wine tasting in the evening. Those were all of the positives. The only negative thing is if you plan on sleeping before midnight (if you're on a business trip or something) they have a really cool rooftop garden/lounge on the 12th floor. We stayed on the 11th and one night could hear the music very well. It stops at midnight though and luckily we weren't trying to sleep. Traffic noise from the street was to be expected, its New York. Overall awesome hotel. Fun fact that my wife loved, the suite on the 12th floor is where Mr. Bigs from sex in the city had his "condo" and where it was filmed. Just in case anyone is a huge fan like my wife. Thanks Hotel Giraffe!

“Absolutely Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2011

The Hotel Giraffe is my great discovery of the sumer. Everything about it is wonderful: the warm welcome at the front desk; the bottle of wine and chocolates brought to my room after I arrived; the elegantly appointed room with its Juliet balcony; the complimentary breakfast in the comfortable lobby; free internet access and passes to a nearby gym. I also ate dinner one night at the hotel's restaurant, Bread and Tulips, which was superb. With the special end-of-summer rate it was more than good value--it was exceptional, especially in New York, And the service is outstanding. The last day, after I'd already checked out and was returning to collect my bags, I brought some visiting friends back with me to enjoy the calm of the lobby and a free cup of tea, and was welcomed just as graciously as when I'd been a paying guest. The location is great, too--two short blocks from the subway, a stone's throw from Madison Square Park, the Flatiron Building, Eataly, and several of the best restaurants in the city. I hated to leave and can't wait to go back!

“the life style”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2011

the hotel Giraffe is understated elegance. complimentary continental breakfast.,also a complimentary bottle of wine in your room.our room was lovely with large french doors leading to a faux balcony.the window had an electric shade.the bed was comfortable.we had a room across from the elevator. usually not the best place for sleep.but,it was very quiet.an indication of a class place with class patrons. in the evening there was complimentary wine and cheese tasting.the lobby is large with comfortable chairs.the staff is there for you. you will need to take the subway for places to see but, the area is a great place to just walk around.plenty of restaurants.

Room Tip: all the room are great.

“Excellent - but......”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2011

.....don't take room 702 without checking the balcony door has been repaired. We just thought it was regular New York street noise until the last morning of a 10 night visit when I realised the door didn't seal correctly, which certainly gave us a few disturbed nights. A note to Peter Velk, the General Manager has had no response, which is disappointing when he emails to solicit a positive review here. But saying that, the hotel is great, the staff are great and the location is great. We stayed at the Casablanca last year which we also enjoyed.

Room Tip: Check the balcony doors seal OK!

Dear chrisolum,

Thank you very much for your feedback about your recent stay at Hotel Giraffe. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed the hotel and our staff, as well as our sister property, the Casablanca Hotel. We would also like to thank you for bringing our attention to the seal on the balcony door in room 702. As New Yorkers who are more used to the urban background noises, this is something that could have easily gone unnoticed by our staff. We have already begun researching the best solution to repairing this seal, since providing a quiet and comfortable stay for our guests is something that we strive for. In regards to your note to me, I am very sorry to say that after searching for an email as well as a hand written note, I have not been able to locate a note from you. I would be very grateful if you could please let me know if this was a written note or an email, so I can determine where there could possibly be a glitch in my receiving messages, as I definitely do not want to miss messages such as yours. You can reach me at peter@hotelgiraffe.com, and thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention.

Sincerely,
Peter Velk, General Manager
