“absolutely fantastic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2010

My husband and i stayed at the Metro to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary this year. As it was a special occassion we requested a room with view of ESB and this was granted. The hotel is welcoming, clean and in an ideal location. The staff were very helpful and polite at all times and even arranged excursions for us. The breakfast and the anytime tea and coffe was brilliant and we would not consider staying anywhere else on future visits to this great city.

The Metro has a fantastic location on w35th street. times square is a five minute walk, macys store is the next block and the rooftop terrace overlooks the empire state building. the hotel is retro style and a good 3star standard. A clean and airy lobby and breakfast room. we had a superior queen room which was plenty big enough and comfy beds. Dailt maid service. Ask for a high floor room as we found this less noisy. herald park square 2 mins on the corner is a nice sitting area with a coffee bar for people watching! Get a Metro card $27 for 7 days and well worth it for the subway. Be prepared for lots of walking! TOP OF THE ROCK has a fab view.

I have recommended a friend of mine to stay at this hotel an di have gone back on here to check that i actually never wrote a review!!!

Me and my boyfriend came to Hotel Metro for 5 nights in November 2009 and was no disappointed!!! Upon arriving at the hotel in a rater expensive yellow taxi we were very pleased at the presentation of the hotel and the warm welcome we got from the staff. Then going up to the rooms, quite small rooms but this is something that is common in New York but didn't bother us too much as you don't spend a lot of time in the hotel anyway!!! Breakfast is included, basic but very nice, cereals, croissants and fruit. Very handy to have breakfast at the hotel then leave to get straight on with sightseeing/shopping. Tea, coffee and orange juice always there if you want to help yourself. Very close to Macy's which suited me fine so went there almost straight away !! Very convenient location between 5th and 6th Avenue and nearby lots of fantastic designer shops. We tended to walk everywhere as yellow taxis are very expensive. Used the subway once to go on the helicopter ride which is very recommended. Best to book before you go!!!! Went over Central Park and around statue of liberty which was great to see the City from above. Rockefeller centre very recommended for the amazing views!!!! Overall spent over 2k but well worth it and remember to take tags off of EVERYTHING before returning to the Uk!!!! Very tired at the end of this trip!!

I booked this 5 day trip as a surprise for my wife's 40th birthday through Virgin holidays. The hotel is in a great position for exploring New York; it is only 5 minutes walk from the Empire State builing and Macy's, (it is exactly as it is described in brochures & web-sites).

This being our first visit to New York; we were keen to squeeze as much as possible into our visit, and therefore once my wife learnt of her surprise shortly before we travelled we ear-marked the guide book with must see's.

Two things that particularly struck me were (i) how clean New York was and (ii) how safe you felt walking around.

Our must see's were (i) The Empire State Building, (ii) Macys, (iii) A helicopter ride over New York - truly amazing, (iv) A river cruise - just for a different perspective, (v) catch a Broadway show - Mary Poppins, (vi) retail therapy - so much to choose from a better than UK prices and (vii) a visit to ground zero - a very humbling experience.

There is a wealth of places to eat & drink catering for all tastes (and all budgets); the hotel we particularly good at recommending some great restaurants for us (and even made the reservations as well !).

The continental breakfast in the hotel is a great way of setting your self up for the day ahead, and the hours of walking / sight-seeing that you may be doing.

A rooftop bar at the hotel is a nice way of chilling-out at the end of a days sightseeing, before you go out again in the evening.

I can't say enough good things about my stay at Hotel Metro! The staff was friendly and polite. I was upgraded from a "superior room" to a suite.

The suite was newly renovated. it has a nice size sitting room with a fire place, table for 4, desk, and sofa, as well as a very large LCD TV. The bedroom has a Queen size bed, desk, and another large LCD TV. The bathroom was marble, new and very clean!

The continental breakfast was good. (fruit, yogurt, bread, cheese, cereal, muffins, bagels, juice, coffee, etc)

All and all, a great hotel close to transportation and attractions. And for me, most important, it was very very clean!

The hotel is a great location, within easy reach of most places, we found you could walk to most places from here.
The staff were very helpfull and friendly. And gave us advice about what places to visit and which trips to do.
The room was very spacious and clean. The breakfast is of a good choice and always fresh. There is tea and coffee available all the time. The bar and restaurant are good too. The roof garden is lovely too.
I would stay here again.

Our visit here started very well. They upgraded our 2 double beds bedroom to a family suite( 2 rooms, 3 beds). The staff was very polite and they were always ready to help. The hotel is very well located. We'll come again anytime.
