“Fantastic Hotel & Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2014

I stayed here for a long weekend city break with my mum, we had a twin room which was really big, 2 double beds, all very clean and to high standards. Breakfast is included and is brilliant as you can set yourself up for the day without having to go and find breakfast. Toast, cereals, muffins, bagels, and hot drinks are also served all day for free. The roof top bar terrace was closed during our visit as we were out of season, but you could still go on to the terrace for an amazing view of the Empire State Building. The hotels location is the best thing, it is so central to absaluetly everywhere. We caught the sky train from the airport to Penn and then the hotel was a 5 minute walk from the station. The Empire State building and Times Square are both and easy walk ... and so is central park. Macy's and various other shops are accross the road, and the area is clean and safe. The staff at the hotel were at all times helpful and friendly, and I could not fault any aspect of our stay. I would definately stay here if I came to NY again.

Room Tip: Our room was on the 8th floor and at the back of the hotel. It was really quiet at night and didnt s...

We only stayed here one night as we arrived in NY a day earlier than planned & we were then moving across to the Comfort Inn across the road for 4 nights.
The room was a queen room but it was quite small (it was on the 2nd floor next to the salon & business centre) there was not much room to move around but fine for a base for 1 night. The main problem was that it faced out on to the back of the hotel (although difficult to tell as the windows were covered with frosted plastic, so we couldn't see out & which made the room very dark) this is where all the air conditioning systems & other noisy things are, so all night it was noisy and difficult to sleep, I had ear plugs but it was still noisy. Off course we didn't realise this until night time by which it would have been too late to ask to be moved.
It was nice to have to roof terrace to see the Empire State Building and the breakfast was nice plus it is in a very central location but apart from that the cost of £189 for 1 night was not worth it.
I have to say the Comfort Inn where we stayed afterwards was much better - we had a queen room there too and lots of space & a quieter room even though we were facing the street.

Room Tip: Ask for one high up!

I booked this hotel and stayed mid March, it is excellent, the staff are all brilliant, the location is ideal close to subway which we used a lot so easy. The breakfast was very good and the Metro Grill restaurant was very goos so we ate there most nights. Would not hesitate booking your stay here.

Stayed for 10 nights in Premium queen room, rooms were in excellent condition, staff were very friendly and helpful, in particular the porters & doormen. The contintental breakfast was a life saver early in the mornings. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I booked this hotel as a surprise for my husbands 50th birthday, and it was great. the hotel,is Art Deco style, rooms very comfortable with fridge with cold drinks. the Metro Grill was really good,we ate there most days as food so nice and we didn't have to trek around looking for restaurant. Breakfast was included and it was fine, fruit, cereals, yoghurt, pastries and giant muffins. The staff in hotel and the grill were excellent. the hotel is a very good location, near to Macy's, Empire State Building, grand Central station plus the other main ones too. Definitely would go back to hotel.

Great place, excellent staff... professional and friendly, great food, clean and tidy. Big comfortable bed... Within walking distance to lots of places - Time Square, Madame Tussauds, hard Rock Cafe. Beautiful view of the Empire State building from the roof top terrace. Short cab ride to the Rockefeller Center. Best little irish bar a couple of doors down. loved everything!

We've just returned from a 6 night stay at Hotel Metro. One of our main reasons for our trip to NYC was to watch the New York Knicks ( NBA basketball) at Madison Square Gardens, and this hotel is just a 5 minute walk away.

Our first night we had a room at the front of the hotel it was Saturday night and rather noisy, we requested a room change, which was quickly worked out by the helpful reception desk.

The hotel has free wifi and complimentary breakfast( a useful saving). New York hotel rooms tend to be smaller than elsewhere but our room was more than adequate.

It should be mentioned that there is a subway station at the end of the road ( 34th Street Herald Square) and an excellent Irish Pub Sports Bar about a few yards down the road. For those who plan to spend their time shopping in NYC, Macy's is no more than a 2 minute walk.

On our final day the hotel was happy to store our luggage so we could make the most of our time. All in all I'd have no hesitation in booking the Hotel Metro on. Future trips to NYC.
